How long does a gsxr last?

I have a 2005 gix 750 and have my oil changed about every 2000 miles and cruise @ 4000-5000 rpm and do wheelys about once a week and never do stoppies. How long will my bike last befor it breaks or I start having problems. How many miles? I look at bikes and they all have under 10,000miles and Mines almost their(10,000miles). are they like cars where you can have 60,000 miles n have no problem's or what. I'm just curious.

this has got to be the weirdest post i've seen in a LONG TIME!!

first - you are do nothing but wasting your money with the oil changes.. thats a million year old and done debate/discussion

2nd - wheelies once a week? what do you mean? every fri after school you do a wheel out the parking lot, "once a week doesn't mean much" - and what wheelies are you doing, and what does that have to do with stoppies?

3rd - a bike doesn't just "break" - but i think her heart is going to break from improper use, or what i call abuse, from not being ridden right.

does it have problems? they all do. when? who knows!! Its a toy meaning more problems, but its also a vehicle. Take care of it and it lasts. The only reason people don't have them long is because they trash them or want the newest and best thing.

10000 miles means nothing and in fact for a 3yr old bike you are behind the power curve.

your bike will probably die quicker from only running at 4k-5k all the time, then your stunting.

well lets see who has a"600" or higher cc sportsbike in here with the most miles. aint nothing better to do. atleast for me im bored as hell. besides the wheelie and stopies i dont think its a bad post. just would like to see for myself how many miles one has gotten out of one.

i believe that my K7 1000 manual said to have the valves checked at 20,000 mi, which i believe is the first schelduled maintenance within the engine... i have noticed that 1000 cc engines last longer than 600s probably due to less RPMS, however, im willing to bet the clutch and tranny componenets are more likely to go out sooner...i would say as a guess that i good time to think about getting rid of a 600 would be 17,000 or so 19,000 for a 750 and 22,000 for a 1000...but really it depends on how you ride it...this is just a generalization...

Highest ive seen was 30K on a cbr.

i have 33k on my 04 and it runs like a champ despite being crashed. The highest i have seen was 106k on a 96 rf900.

my co worker commuted on his gsx-r 750, valencia to torrance everyday, (k3) and it had 58,XXX he said it ran just as it did when he bought new, but now he has a k7 750

most bikes last until they get crashed, I would say <1% of bikes die from natural causes

18,000 on my 05 750 and runs mint. Only problem I had was the STVA went out at 13,000 miles but a buddy fixed it for me and no issues since. Checked the valves around 16,000k and they were still in spec.

As long as you change the oil every 3000mi (2000 if you're anal), check the valves and adj when needed, replace the air filter and just keep up with general maintenance, there is no reason you can't get 100,000 out of a modern motorcycle motor.

My last two Honda's went 36,000 and 46,000mi before selling them and they were running like new.

Here is an pretty new ( i think 2004) CBR with 100,000 miles on it and it looks in good shape still.

I change my oil every 2500 miles, but I don't use the ultra-premium oils either. And it's not right at 2500 either. When I see 2500 on the clock, I just head to the store to get some and change it when I get a chance. I think I got to 3160 once, but most the time it's between 2500 and 3000. Is it a waste of money.... I don't think so. My grandpa owned a service garage for a long time. He had an old suburban with 360,000 miles on it before a drunk driver hit him and totaled it. His belief was "keep it clean inside and out, and it will last". I think there's truth to that. However, todays oils don't break down like they used to. I'll up my oil change costs by 30%. No big deal, Rotella isn't that expensive and filters are $6. My 05 has 13,500 on the clock.
