Im scared too drive my motorcycle!!!

I aint gonna lie. The only experiance Ibe had with motorcycles was a 50cc Honda Spree scooter back when I was like 17 and i took a nasty spill on that 30mph top speed mofo that I still wear scars to this day. Other then that Ive driven a few of my friends bikes around the neighborhood once in a blue moon (maybe 3-4 times max ). I bought this bike and paid more then I wanted too cause it was love at first sight (for me and the wife) and the auction I bought it at was approx 35 miles away, a good 40 min drive! So Im just doing a little practice runs around the parking lot of the auction to get a general feel for this bad ass machine to prepare to get out into general public. I didnt even know how to figuire the turn signal outs, how to turn on the bike, and WHERE THE "F" THE GAS METER ~ seriously do these bikes even have one ???? Im stumped on that one , I figuired I needed gas halfway thru my journey when the gas light went on. Also what is the average temperature suppose to be? I think the hottest it got was 201-209 F I cant tell what is considered overheating. So I go out to the open roads for the first time on a bike of this caliber with my wife behind me the whole way. This bike scares the Sh*t out of me , I aint gonna lie. I felt like a mosquito (a ridiculously fast one) on the road compared to all the SUV's and big ass trucks passing me since I was doing top speed of 45mph the whole way. Making the turns where scary as hell to , I tended to take the turns WIDE and slow watching for gravel the whole time. Then to top it off it was a windy ass day (great). I finally made it home and didnt drop the bike. This bike is flawless new , no scratches and 8k miles only. I didnt want to spend this much but only after the dealer that fucked me + taxes screwed me a new a-hole of ALOT more fees then I even wanted to spend! Im NEVER buying from a dealer again, ever. So right know its parked in my garage and honestly me feelings are I want to sell the bike. Me and wifey are bumping heads cause she wants to keep it but it has become a financial burden and not a form of transportation to work and back I feel comfortable with now that i have it. What I really wanted was a bike that was already slightly customized and maybe even scratched so the day I drop it or something, i wont cry as much. This thing is beautiful, expensive, and SCARY! Perhaps I just havent popped my motorcycle cherry yet and Im practicing around the neighborhood but Im strongly considering selling and just buying something a little older with more miles that I can practice on and not worry about fucking it up. My wie is gonna kill me. Seriously!
For now I have plans on making a 1983 toyota Corolla a daily driver (24 mile one way ) to work sell this bike and get something more used to "f" around locally till I learn to drive better. Part of me wants to keep it tho of course. :shifty

Sorry ...I blame BACARDI ; )

It a 2005 GSX-R 600 with 8k miles on the clock and no scratches anywhere.

Cliff notes :

Bought bike for more then I wanted to spend

took long ass 45 minute drive home first time driving a bike like this in public traffic

scares the sh*t out of me (especially other cars)

I already have plans of selling after 2 days of ownership to get something older and used , so I can abuse it without guilt.

I aint treating it like a game and I dont expect sympathy. Im sure all of you were once a first time rider at one point in your life. I just value my life and my family even though I do love motorcycles ...but for the next few months, i think Ill just stick to around the neighborhood till I get more feeling for her (unless I sell her before then) Either way Im decided on having a motorcycle wether its this one or a more used one. I just wish it was cheaper and not so new cause Im afraid to drop it. Oh wells once I get the title I ll see how I feel from there. How did you all get used to driving fast ass motorcycles for the first time? Im sure you guys had to be nervous...i am and not afraid to admit it. I still love the feeling though and especially the looks of the bike.

But this thing scares the F out of me!

Go take a basic riding course (MSF). Don't ride scare, ride cautious. Riding scared will get you killed. Bikes can smell fear and will spit you off in a hearbeat. This is why everyone says "don't get an R type bike for your first".

There is no way you could keep it AND get a EL CHEAPO (like $2000 or less) learners bike (that you could later re-sale)???

Only way to sell it at this point is if you could make your money back??

Also ummm maybe you can drive around some more (take the MSF beggin. course) and possibly get comfy on it (know ur limits, etc)..

Yea i here you R type bike is ridiculously responsive. The more I have driven her the more comfy I feel , but then Ill see a huge SUV about to turn into my road or something and I just think the worse and try to expect the worse anytime I see a car around me.
A driving course and LOTS of gear is definatlly in my near future. No more funds to buy a POS cheapo used bike already so thats why Im considering selling already and starting over agian. I just didnt see all these taxes and hidden fees at the auction price and It added up more then what my $$ limit was. I was think of using this as a daily to get to work but "F" that idea out the door. its 25 miles one way and I start work at 11pm and leave at 8am. All I have left is like $1k to buy a POS car now. Id rather have a POS car tho and a really nice bike at this point in my life tho ...F gas prices!

Im 32 , im a grown ass man, hell Im not even into speeding or racing any more ,I left that stage back in my 20's. I plan on keeping the speed limit, I just love the looks of these machines , especially modified and wanted something really cheap on gas to get to the corner store everyonce in awhile, other then work , I hardly go anywhere and gas prices have been killing me. I think i just need more hours and a safety course to get used to it. My boy said he was the same way when he first got his bike. He even had a friend drive it home for him the day he bought it, but know he drives like no problems, I think I just need to warm up to it , my turns are kinda sucky still. Fast choices are bad i know but it was an auction so you only have like minutes to outbid people. Either way I think I can still make a few hundred if I resell her on the street , it was a good deal but still a few more $$$ then i meant to spend , at least after the taxes and dealer fee had there way with me. So even if i resell for what I paid i still think its not that bad a decision .....(as long as I dont dropp her or it gets stolen "knock on wood to the 3rd power" )

You're in desperate need of formal motorcycle training. Otherwise you don't stand a chance. Get in contact with your local Motorcycle Safety Foundation or similarly approved cycle class. That or hang the "for sale" sign on it now before you tempt fate any further.

^ I here you, I have a little experiance but they def need to be sharpened up. i can get it , I just need practice before i attempt to go on the road again . Im sticking to around my neighborhood for the next few weeks / maybe even months and yea I think a for sale sign is coming VERY soon. I do love the bike , but i really wanted something that wont make me cry the day i drop it and wont leave such a nasty dent in my wallet.

That first 40 minute drive home tho....made me wanna sh*t my pants!

:hammer That's your problem right there. You're "driving" instead of riding. Couple that with shitty roads and duh, your total lack of experience and you've got a recipe for disaster.

Recommendation: Give me your bike.

In that case , i cant live without one cause Ive always wanted one since 15years of age. No matter what Im gonna own a gixxer...just damn , on the real , for a first time bike I dont think its a good choice with the amount of performance and how nimble this sucker responds. The make some crazy ass bikes in this day and age. I can respect her tho...in no way does the "yoshimura" pipe make me want to step on it or break 50 mph right know. The only thing I can think about when I drive is avoiding cars and if theres any gravel or sand on the road. I do love this bike but its a bit much to learn some good skills with ...I think my wife loves it even more then I do. She fantasizes of driving it one day ( NOT GONNA FUGGIN HAPPIN /) ...and its gonna be a loooooooonnnnnggggg time before I consider her being a passenger.
