Hey guys, hope someone can help with this.

I recently purchased some plastics for a slabby. There is a few old stickers on it that have been there for many years as well as some clear sticker to protect the tank. These are all non original stickers.

What is the best way to safely remove them without damaging the original paint. The stickers are quiet hard and brittle and the parts I have attamped have left a sticky hard residue.

Any help much appreciated.

EK,
Have you tried good old fashoned distilled alcohal on the residue? What about bug and tar remover. I use it on my slabby all the time to get, well bugs and tar off, with out any damage to the paint.

The guy that does the Stickers for my company trucks says to use Adhesive glue remover from a company Stinger. He buys it in bulk but he said he find out if he can get it can form.
I used it on my Titan to get off old pistripe and it waorked great but you'll need to use some elbow grease as well.

I use lighter fluid to remove old skateboard griptape.

If it doesnt hurt a 20 year old skateboards paint.... I doubt it would hurt the plastic.

Its cheap.... And works great! But test a small part 1st.

Damn, that reminds me...I used white gas (you know, the stuff that you put in a camp stove) and it worked great. Took all the wax off, too, but no damage to paint. (This was on a set of skis.)

No joke guys, I paint bikes. We don't have time to heat... etc. Use the wheel and you will never go back. Slow-ish speed = fast removal along with gummy residue.

Wont touch the paint as long as you dont go fast.

Next time I do a fairing, I will video it!

you couldnt use any chemicals if you wanted to in a paint shop because of fish eyes.

I put a rag soaked with wd-40 in the intake of the paint booth at a body shop I worked at when I was a kid. LOL... He was screwing me on my overtime.:nono :D

start with WD40 if that dont work heat it and try peeling again
use rubbing alcohol to remove the stick stuff after you get sticker off
or use "goof off" that shit will eat up that stick stuff ;)

Use goof off to take off old bumper sticker a couple of days ago.

You guys OBVIOUSLY have not tried this on SRAD sticker residue.
Nothing...and i do mean NOTHING works on that residue.
Gas-no, alcohol-no, goo-gone-no,wd40-no,lacquer thinner-no (but it did start to remove the paint!) N.A.S.A. must have designed the adheasive for the srad decals!

I removed a bunch just the other day, heat them up with a hair dryer, peel the stuickers off, put soime goo gone on the residue, wipe the adhesive off, clean, and put some fresh wax on. Took me about an hour to remove the tail stickers.

I can vouch for this, it's absolutely true! Tried all of the above with the same results. I'm trying the soft disk posted on the previous page, should be here in a couple of days. I'll let you know how it works.
