Might as well get it going
Seems kinda high considering it's condition... I dunno... :scratchItalian Stallion said:hi farmers, was lurking on ebaymotors and found this

blown connecting rod and a piston, needs new tires, but everything else is good. if this thing sells for 1500, would it be a good buy for the track? or would you spend the extra money for a track ready bike...i really want to get a bike beat up and do the work myself, im taking a mechanic class late summer so i'd like to work on something like this, do you think its worth the trouble?
yea thats what anthony said ... i think i should find a track bike with a good motor and hardcore cosmetic dmg, i'm probably going to put on a new set of lighter fairings anyways.R.U. Sirius said:Seems kinda high considering it's condition... I dunno... :scratch
If anything it should improve your track riding. The kat's are heavy and harder to throw through the turns, but get used to that and you'll be able to throw a gixxer around like it was a a fucking BMX bike or something... :biggrinItalian Stallion said:anthony i need your advise on something.
i'm an aspiring racer, ive wanted to be a racer since i was a kid but of course, no financial support.
next year is my 'break out' year, where i planned on getting a 2004 GSXR 600 to learn on (well besides this summer with the katana), and the next summer after that i planned on getting a track bike and learning the track. Well I just thought to myself, how about I just keep riding the katana on the street next summer, and get the track bike right in the spring after exams and have it rdy by mid summer to start my track riding. Its basically sacrificing a nice newer ride to get in one summer earlier for the track. Would this be a bad decision considering the katana and the gixxer are 2 different bikes, and the katana is extremely heavy; would this throw off my track riding?
i thought it was the better plan... i dont care how bad i look on the street if i can rape people on the track :coolR.U. Sirius said:If anything it should improve your track riding. My opinion.... Sounds like a good plan to me... :cool
Yeah, as long as it has a good motor and the frame is good it'll be pretty easy (and CHEAP!) to fix up. Might take a while, but just keep checking the local papers, ebay, etc... and I'm sure something will come along.Italian Stallion said:yea thats what anthony said ... i think i should find a track bike with a good motor and hardcore cosmetic dmg, i'm probably going to put on a new set of lighter fairings anyways.
:lol Just goes to show great minds think alike...King Anthony said:wow, we are like twins right now rgregu. i said it was too expensive, then you did, and now you say it will improve his track riding and so did i.
No not really. I ride a 98 CBR 900 on the street and GSXR 600 on the track. I started track riding on a 01 GSXR 1000. I don't have to much trouble once I get to the track. You will have to ride a bit more track to get used to the new bike, but it won't hurt you since your first year or so track riding will be learning technique and not necessarily speed.Italian Stallion said:anthony i need your advise on something.
