I recently bought a wrecked 2006 that was not that bad from an owner that needed money badly and had about $750 in damage. I got the bike very cheap fixed everything and the bike looks brand new. If sold I could make between $2000-$3000 thousand.

I very much enjoyed this little project and got most of the stuff off of ebay or new parts from a discount online site. I keep looking online on Craigslist and it is near impossible to find a similar deal.

This got me thinking where can I find bikes like this? I am in the DC area and am willing to drive about 150 miles to look at bikes.

Has anyone had luck at auctions or know where I could find them? I do know the best ones require a dealers license which I am not interested in getting just would love to do a few bikes a year.

Any suggestions?

Hey I just found a site like this the other day, they had a 06 750 for like $450 on it in Culpepper. Looked pretty messed up though. Too messed up for me to make a track bike out of it thats for sure.

I was at home when I found it so its not in my history here at the office, but I will post it tonight.

I tried to find some auction/repo bikes before buying my current ride. I ended up calling a bank and asked them if they had repo's and was told it's pretty much done by the dealer.

Wow another person in Arlington. I will be in touch when the weather gets better as I have no one to ride with as all my friends are married and with kids and no longer have bikes.

It seems all those online sites are bikes that have already been bought at an auction and auctioned again. Why else would you see price of $5000 + for a salvaged GSXR. The prices sthink on autocycler.com as I just took a look.
