sorry if this is a repost. just a couple quick questions .. 1st i really dont have $300 to $650 to drop on a jacket right now i'am trying to purchase a house at this time but i really need a jacket.. i dont do track days or race . just a hobby that i refuse to give up. i tried on the leather jacket and the textile jacket i could feel alot more protection with the leather vs the textile . but how strong are the textile jackets? how well do they do in cold weather " i'am from Ohio" bottom line is what kinda of protection does textile offer if any?

Thanks for your time

I own a JoeRocket GSXR textile. I was in a wreck with it, and it chewed holes through a fwe spots. One of the spots was on the elbow, but then again, the pad it still good. The other was on the wrist area. I suffered very little road rash using the textile jacket. My legs were torn up pretty good, along with my ass. I was wearing shorts......the ONLY time I worn shorts and I wrecked!

My advice is get something until you can save up for the leather. Just remember, textile isnt leather.

i have a joerocket "ufo" mesh/textile jacket and an icon "motorhead" leather jacket. i like them both but its whats going on outside that matters. i wont use the ufo in temps below 60F cuz it gets chilly after about 65mph. yeah it can be warm when i come to a stop in traffic during warm temps but once you get going again it actually works like a/c. the leather i've worn with the temps into the 30's and with some longjohns can ride all day. i did go down while wearing the leather and it did get a hole in the elbow(not just a scuff). unfortunately the hole was not where the elbow pad protected so i got a nice little scar. no problems though cuz i hate to think what if i didnt have it. some people will disagree but any jacket is better than no jacket. even in the heat of south texas and florida where i used to live.

Well if you got a textile/leather jacket you'd be better off than just textile. Mine is leather down my back, shoulders, elbows down to my wrist....

i have the cortech gx-air jacket also in blue. THe only reason why i have it is because it was a gift from someone. I like the jacket a lot. If this wasn't a gift, i probably would have gotten a more expensive leather jacket but i couldn't justify getting a new jacket yet since i got this one recently.
