What area? You're talking about something that's got a power to weight ratio that's nearly unheard of in cars, and can easily be tossed into a van by a couple strong guys. Bikes, especially sportbikes, are very high risk for insurance companies.

that sucks, but im not surprised. im 21, 2 tickets i pay 140/month (without collision). the newest and largest bike i could get was 05 600. anything new or bigger would jump it to prices near that

Im only 19 and had a seatbelt ticket and i pay 67 a month but I dont have collision. I have everything else though. I pay 780 a year. With collision I would of been paying about $2800. Not worth it for me.
I use progessive.

Are you getting a quote online, the 1-800 # or going into a local branch? I had Progressive before I got my bike, and they wanted $6000 a year so my friend told me to call SF bc they were really cheap for him. So I called the 800 # and they wanted about $3000/yr IIRC. He told me to go into the branch that he used and now I pay $26/month for full coverage. I'm 33 with no tickets or accidents, so yours will probably be higher, but if you go to a local branch you may be able to get it down to $500-1000 yr for full coverage. Oh and with SF you have to insure your car with them too to get the bike insurance. Well, at least in PA, and it was a little more than Progressive for my car.

Yeah. Msf here is held during the summer. Did you guys keep collision or no? I put no coverage into collsion. It dropped 300$ per month.

It's a good thing FL doesn't require insurance on bikes (even though some cops don't even know that)

If you are getting a loan on the bike you will need to get collision.

All cash buyer - you can get liability which only covers the other drivers car.

Im not trying to be a jerk, but it honestly sounds like you are making a bad decision buying this bike, you wont be able to afford it.

My suggestion to you is to save up money over the winter, and in the spring buy a nice used bike in cash and just get liability on it.

Screw it, Get the INS, roll it out with a plate and registration then go back and promptly cancel that shit! Money returned paperwork in order and your good till the Bank finds out and starts sweatin ya. Next year do the same to get it legal again and when the day comes to crash it, call them up and say you need that ins stuff again... Wait a day or two and opps you know what, you crashed it!

Money problem solved... Untill ya need a retainer for a good criminal lawyer but that's just a long shot.:dunno

Chances are you don't need ins, or a seat belt or gear, but when you do need it and want them to back you it's all about loyalty then. Insurance company's never try to pull this kind of game on it's customers right? Bwhahaha. :spit

collision = if u fuck up and hit a person/car/object and wreck ur bike it will not be paid for... thats it, anything else can be qualified under comp. (my understanding of what my insurance person said)

Also, One could put it under there renters or home owners ins for comprehensive coverage and if it were to come up "missing" wreck or not

Incorrect, not all banks require full coverage. Mine doesn't. At $3000-4000/year I can fix my bike several times and still come out cheaper than paying full coverage. The only thing that sucks is Theft. But to my defense on that I live on a Military base, bike is garaged, and I never let it out of my sight if I stop for any reason.


To the OP. I also live in Alabama and I can already tell you you're fucked on Insurance. You're not going to find cheap insurance here. Not at your age. I'm older, married, military, perfect credit and I still can't find under $3000 for full coverage.

I wish you luck, you're going to need it.
