So I just replaced the engine, finally had everything ready to go, when I took it for a test ride. About a hundred meters into the ride, I noticed that when I blipped the throttle, rpms would rise, with no real acceleration at all, and the clutch was catching a little far out on the pull. Not too worried, I hit it again, when I heard a loud clunk from what sounded like clutch area (maybe?).

My rear wheel locked up, threw me into a pretty bad shake. I was able to save it, but had to walk my bike back home. Its too late to do anything now, I was just wondering if anyone has had something like this happen to them, and what they might think it could be...obviously I will not know until I open her up again.

also, I did replace the CCT, naturally.

So, I finally got to te bike a little today.... It will start, and runs for about 15 seconds before shutting off( no codes). However, I did notice a fairly loud squeak sound coming from the engine when it shuts off -- any ideas? I am waiting to see if someone has had this issue before I tear the engine apart

Usually 15 seconds is not quite enough time to "seize' something unless, of course, the damage has already occurred and this is just a residual of said damage?

Haha fair enough, the squeak just got me hopeful that it may have been something else! Ill tear her apart this week

Start by pulling the clutch cover then the oil pan to look for any broken pieces. Hopefully the problem lies with the clutch as that is a much easier fix.

Yea, my CCT was too tight...and i just needed to adjust my clutch cable a little *facepalm*
But now there is a new problem--when i start her up, there is a loud clicking sound from the top of the engine. I thought it was some nastiness with the CCT, but i checked it, 1/4" deflection and the timing is still good...thoughts?

Well glad you got that part figured out. Now the clicking... was it not there before? If not, then it probably has something to do with moving the cct again. I'll let someone who knows what they are talking about chime in.

acutally i think it sounds like rod knock, thats why i asked the oil thing

here is actually pretty much what it sounds like, and it takes a minute to start, just like the video--which is why i am leaning more towards a valve issue...

CCT is loose now? Pretty sure. There is a specific way to set it up in the service manual. Follow it. If that doesn't work, get a manual CCT. Hard to tell without being there. Good luck.

that sounds horrible, although mine made a similar lighter noise before doing the cct. older bike though.

Yea I have a mcct on there... I guess ill try tightening it and see what happens

To adjust it, idle the bike, turn the adjuster in till the rattle stops, then back it out about 1/8th turn. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. A little bit loose is better than too tight. Let us know. Cheers, Mike.
