i just recently burned my rectifier yesterday and got a replacement one today. At start up while the bike is warming up, my rectifier seem to get hot quick.. i mean you can really feel it heat up. I checked my stator and it seem to be fine (show 1.2 ohm on each wire). also while my bike was running, i checked the voltage on the battery and it read 14.7 which i believe its normal also.. my question is, is it normal for the rectifier to heat up fast at start up..? what eles should i be checking..? also i recently just got a new battery also.. thanks

Yes it is normal for them to get hot. It is a shunt regulator, meaning it sends excess voltage to ground producing heat

^ thanks.. i just checked my buddy gsxr600 and it get hot just sitting there idling..

Because it's a shunt device things work a little backwards. With more load on the system it will run cooler. Try putting your high beams on after you start it - should stay a little cooler.
