read the sticky... only thing that will not work is the temp. mustang has a fix for the fuel light and i have made mine work with 2 relays as its what i had laying around but now think a intergrated chip could do the job as well. I have looked at the 4000 cmos logic ic's but i did study logic gates in school on theriory but not to make things work. he says i am getting to complicated with relays so if what i want to do is so complicated i not know what he wants 50 bucks for for his fix.

I think you need to make a few custom mounts up. But if you check out the sticky ( I know its for a 1000 Swap) it will give you some ideas at what you would be looking at and most of what would be required. Also, why do you guys like switching to the new gen guages? Personally I love the old analogs ???

because its easier to read the speed when youre going fast an all you have is a glance worth of time and dont want to take longer to look, squint and focus.

i like the updated look too.

I am not doggin mustang about the kit he does just stated the facts that he was selling one and i made it work on my own but was still looking at other options to make it work. actually i would love to work on the temp thing but my bike is not running atm and i have no access to a newer bike to see how it works. usually in a forum you post what you did and what happend and so do others and as a group you come to a solution to an issue but i guess not with this crowd. once my bke is running i will play with the temp to see how it works. but so far just looking at the repair manual the 2 temp sensors run at different resistances values. As for looking down when you go fast and have to focus on the digita speed verses the old anolog speedo. if you get used to it you know how fast you are going just by the rpm. i had a car that the speedo died on and i drove it for 2 years just using the tach as a reference and knowing what gear i was in. and as for making a crazy bracket to mount it i made a simple one out of a 60 thou sheet of scap alumimum from work. and used the stock mounting points to mount the plate then the gauges onto it. will post a pic when i got my bike together as well maybe scan it and upload the a pic of it.

were not doggin ya either bro.
i just dont see why your spending time messing with somthing thats been solved.
the temp issue has not.
wish it was cuz i hate seeing that CHEC.
i gues only you trust that tach w/out a speed to know your speed. thats cool. not me though.
the kit that 96mustnag has has no use for a bracket. you only use the existing holes and guages with no extra stuff.
were all cool here. just frustrated to get a temp fix.

i wanted a spot to put my dealer mod switch and my manual fan switch too is why i made a bracket. i also have a spot to stick a gear indicator if i ever get one.. maybe one with tre built into it. but ya as for the temp fix think i just been playig with the bike and figuring out how the ecu works. I used to be an automotive tech before i switched careers to be an aircraft maintenance engineer. just wish i had access to something more than a cheap meter now. i would love to know what mustang has tried on the temp thing too. even to know if he has taken any readings on a running 99 and a 2k. thats where learning from what didn't work for people have tried to fix something or make something comes in very handy. oh if your going that fast why look down lol i am busy lookin for cops or cagers trying to run me off the road.

hmm my 99 750 has 2 wire as well and it does use the 5 v. just the resistance is diff look at the testing for the 99 vesus the 2k. the 2k gives it in a chart but the 99 gives it in a few statements. the resistance in the sensor varies way more in the 99 then the in the 2k and was thinking we may need a k2 sensor but that may mess up the ecu cause. take a look in the electrical section of each manual the 2k 2.5 and up ohms but the 99 is all the way up to over 9 ohms.

just do it now.
everything works fine.
fan still comes on automatically.
only thing is YOU cant tell what the temp is.
The bike can and still turns the fan on by itslef when it reaches the set temp

This swap works well! Just did it on my 98 750; i used a 03 750 cluster.

i was able to pull the pins out by lifting the tab in the connector with a micro flathead screwdriver. I ran a constent 12v directly to the battery so that i dont have to keep changing to KM/H and adjusting the clock :)

everything works except the Check light is on. if anyone has an answer to this it would be greatly appriciated. I will do some fooling around in the garage and if i find anything that works i will definatly let you guys know.

cheers,

MJ
