I've loved this exhaust since the day Akra released it for the K6-7. So I decided to go ahead and try to fit it up to my L1.

This isn't a how-to. I just thought Id share the before/after and process with everyone.

If anyone has questions or wants to do this, feel free to ask. I'd be happy to help.

Enjoy. :cheers

^Received the parts from Motomummy.

^Pulled the ECU out to pull the servo pin.

^Pulled the brown with black striped wire, per the yoshimura install guide on their website.

^Now moving on to the servo valve.

^removed the wires to the flange.

^Trimmed the pipe down until it was about 2" from the header. As it turned out, I actually cut the slip on part of the muffler also. I took it to an exhaust shop and had him exploded the pipe another 2" deep again. (Not pictured)

^Finished.

^Back on the bike.

^Installed the rearset bracket to hold the can in place.

^Slid on the pipe and tightened it down.

^PCV in the tail section.

^Ran the wires.

^It was a tight fit, so I took the tank off.

^Finished product after trimming back the lower fairing.

^Another angle. It came out just how I pictured. I still haven't had the opportunity to have it dynoed and tuned. But I've got a video of it running. No FI light.

^Video. Just light revs. It's much louder than the video perceives.

Thanks for reading!

Looks sick man. Like it a lot. Would like to see a dyno whenever you get one. Also feedback on how the bike runs and general feel now would be good too. Congrats.

I should be hitting the dyno sometime this week, but it's already running like a completely different bike.

I took it for a little spin last night. I can feel a pretty major power difference and its very responsive. It's a little poppy in the upper RPMS, but that should get tuned out at the dyno.

All-in-All I'm already impressed. Can't wait for the tuning.

Nice job on the mod.:thumbup
The cut fairing doesn't bug me or really jump out to me :twitch
as much as i thought it would, but that could just be that ur bike is black,
If it were a white/blue model, i think it would be much more pronounced.
Always liked that can but couldn't bring myself to go through with the mod due to the reason posted.
Just waiting for a curious fellow with white/blue bike to try it out first. :biggrin

I agree. I was worried about shaving it like it would be obvious, so I kind of worked a curve in there to make it a little more subtle.

The fact that its blacks helps since your eyes arent drawn to it anyway.

I finally got it dynoed. Here's a screenshot of the numbers.

I don't really know what to compare it to, but the bike feels incredible and that's all I'm worried about.

The numbers read...
139.6hp@12,326rpm/154mph
61.5ft-lbs@10,788rpm/135mph

Again,
I don't know what to compare this, too.
I don't know how inflated the numbers are.
And I don't care. :biggrin

I'm completely satisfied with the improvement of the bike. :cheers

great looking bike man..thanks for the writeup!

Just placed an order with motomummy for the slipon and i got a bazazz zfi with quickshifter. Plan on installing just like you wrote up. Does anyone know if theres a map out there that would work well with this setup. I wont be able to get it tuned for awhile, hoping i can get a map that will work ok with this setup.

Thanks

Cody

Oh and while im waiting for mine to come in the mail, is there anyway you could post more vids and pics, maybe a fly bye? Im so excited and have the same exact bike you do.
