K6 1000 doesn't have a cat, that started in 2007.

 

It had a catalyser in the muffler, at least up here in Canada, I'm pretty sure.

TRC is a classic and pretty good value, it's the only one I can speak to.

 

Thanks for the responses guys, I got +1 for Yosh. So I can install the M4 in the same manner as the Yosh?

 

Akrapovic, Yoshimura, Leo Vince, Termignoni, Arrrow usually get high praise around here.

I would go with any of these ^ before I went with an M4 but I don't think it matters much.

 

Akrapovic carbon slip-on is my choice and there is no cat in the muffler of a K5/K6.

I appreciate your help guys. Man, now I have find out if the bike has a CAT or not. I have looked at the Akra with the hex canister (very sweeeet and bad ass) and the Leo Vince SBK EVO II (I read something in which you wont need to remap with this exhaust. Anyone know if this is true????? Sorry for all of the squid questions guys.

 

there is no cat on ANY k5/k6 1k made anywhere in the world.

 

The cat is in the muffler. So basically it has one. :biggrin

 

as for the slip-on, it doesn't make a difference which brand you go with really, it is whatever you want. the horsepower difference is null and void between them all really, so it is about looks and sound, both of which are totally subjective, and only you can make that decision.

you do not NEED a remap with just a slip-on, but it will help if you get one.

 

Being on this topic, and owning a k6 1000 as well, I'm trying to figure out if the 06/07 600/750 Akrapovic shorty exhaust will fit on the k6 1000?

 

Per page 11-4 of the service manual, the North American and Australian K5/K6's do not have a catalyst but the others, i.e. European versions, do. The Australian muffler is somehow different than the North American version but I'm unaware of what it is (could be something as trivial as labeling).

 

Looks like I may be the only one running an HMF. Sound is not loud, but it's heard.

 

I put a TRC high mount on this past winter. Very nice pipe.

 

I'd get the yosh.. but I bias.

I just installed the akrapovik carbon fiber slip on this weekend.
I think it looks great, and it sounds great.
Very happy with this slip-on!!

 

Have a look at the micron sepent ? i think its called - fuckin awesome to look at and sound is like no other...

Got Yoshi now but it was on the bike when I bought it, Great pipe, Worth the dosh, I will try the growler next as the actual pipe before the slip on appears larger in diameter, Looks chunkier, Maybe optical illusion as I don't have the dimensions, Just a thought and a couple of pic's for you.

Check out some previous threads on the KR Tuned. Looks good, low noise with the insert in (EU approved), or take it out for more bark. I got mine for around $250, maybe those deals are still out there.

 

When i was looking for a pipe, all others seemed so long and old school looking so I got this.

I have the Yosh TRC Slip-on Muffler on my 06. I must say compared to a full system, on friends bikes, and other slipons. It is simply the most amazing sounding Muffler I have ever heard. I get alot of compliments on it and people ask if its a Full System because of the sound. DEADLY

 

Guys Im still deciding, I've checked youtube for sound and still doing research. Gunter that micron looks bad ass. It seems that the Yosh TRC is a top choice. This is one hard as decision to make.

you tube really doesnt give they systems justice. I Know cause i was trying to do the same a couple months ago. My Akra sounds SO MUCH BETTER in person than it did on youtube.
