I bought a fuel tank off ebay that is suppose to be for a gsxr 750 SRAD. Not quite sure of the year. I went to bolt it on today after spending the last couple days painting it. Everything seemed fine untill i tried to the put the fuel pump in. The fuel pump will not go in all the way because there is a metal line that is keeping the pump from fitting in all the way. Also on the back of this tank there are only two hose lines that come out the back. On my original tank, it has three lines coming out of it. Does anyone know what model tank i got from ebay? I guess i will have to buy a new fuel pump to fit this tank.

I Had The Same Problem With My 99 750. To Get Straight To The Point Not Everyone Will Agree But I Made Mine Work By Cutting The Overflow Tube 2 Inches Short With A Small Tube Cutter, Then I Used Fuel Line And A Y Connector To Join The Two Tubes Inside The Tank. The Tube Leaving The Back Of The Tank That I Cut 2 Inches I Put Right To The Regulator. The Other 2 Are Joined In The Tank. I Thought I Would Have To Change That Fuel Line Inside The Tank But Its Been 2 Years Now Since I Did This And I Have Had No Problem At All.

No worries... you just got an older tank. Your tank is from the carbed SRAD.

i did the 750 FI swap, with my old carbed tank. i also had to reroute the overflow lines inside the tank, and has also done it by cutting a section of the pipe that is obstructing the fuel pump, and replace it with rubber fuelhose. The idea about replacing it with rubber fuelhose is, that it is flexible, so it can be re-routed inside the tank.

Regarding the missing nipple on the back of the tank.. i made one my self. i have made a small drawing of it in this earlier thread

No welding or anything :-D

Hope you choose, to go with these small alterations, instead of changing the tank. I did, and it works for me.

And hope this advice is helpful.. feel free to contact me, if you need some help on this one. (i have skype)

are you guys saying a carb'd FI pump will not work on a carb'd motor. I have a 97 carb motor with a 01 tank and the pump is not working. I have this in a different frame. thats why i'm combining the two.
NOT trying to hijack your tread but i'm down to the last few ideas....

Hey pete.. Did you just drill a hole in the tank? did you use rubber oring to seal it, and also did you use a bolt that was at a 90 degree angle? send me the drawing of what you did to make this work..thanks... I had to cut a section of my breather tube so the pump would fit, and I guess I will use rubber hose to reconnect it. but still need the return line to hookup thanks..
