front end swap

Ok all gsxr's from the SRADs on use the same triple tree bearings.

You can get a complete front end from any gsxr (R1/R6 as well I believe) and use that. Triples, wheel, axle, calipers, and rotors. Done and done. Of course you will PROBABLY lose your steering lock AND steering stops. If you use an 05-06 gsxr1000 front end (it has the ignition straight ahead) you might be able to keep your steering lock.

The other option is to use an SRAD 750 triples (NOT 600), axle and wheel with 04-05 gsxr600/750 OR 03-04 gsxr1000 forks & calipers. You can use either those rotors (300mm) or your srad ones (320mm) with a 10mm spacer on the srad front wheel.

That gives you the new gold forks and gold radial calipers but it should retain your steering lock and stops.

The only problem could be the rotors not being centered in the calipers. I'll have to check on that.

Ok, someone can double check my math on this, but the newer forks have 207mm center to center while the srad are 214mm That gives us a distance of 3.5mm on each side.

The srad wheel and rotors are 2mm wider than the K series so that 1mm on each side.

3.5 - 1 = 2.5mm

The rotors should probably be shimmed out 2.5mm on each side, but I think the four piston calipers can compensate.

If you're going to the trouble to do the front end swap...why wouldn't you get the k4 front wheel & brakes as well?? I'm assuming the brakes are better, and probably radial...correct?

What's the advantage of having inverted forks? I guess it puts the fork weight lower which is always good....but what else?
Inverted forks are stiffer, which isn't always a good thing. They look cool though. ;)

If he swaps forks then he'll have to do the calipers as well, so he will get the better brakes. If you combine those with the 320mm srad rotors you will stop in a hurry!

You can use the K series wheels if you want, but that will be another 1mm on each side you'll have to space the caliper and wheel.

If it were me, I'd go for the newer wheels too.

why would you hafta space the wheel when using a fork/wheel/brake combination that were all designed for each other?

Is this assuming you're using the old triple....thus the spacing differences? Otherwise it should all line up
Yeah if you use the srad 750 triple so the steering stops and lock still work then you need to space things out. If you use the all new front end then you will need to fabricate steering stops and your lock may work, but it might be a different position, i.e. wheel turned all the way right or pointing straight ahead.
