Got a K8 600 all stock. Before you guys tell me to use the search button and that non-sense let me tell you that i have. When i first got the bike the vibrations would kill my hands. After a few week of riding it wasnt so bad. Then the past couple times i went riding its been killing my hands like when i first got the bike. I have SEARCHED and tried different things. I have tried holding myself up with my legs to get the weight off my arms, loose grip on the bars, arms bent, ect. I cant ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs because the pegs vibrate my feet so i have to use the arches. When i try to squeeze the tank with my legs my ass and leg muscles get sore..lol. I have tried to rest my stomach on the tank but since the tank dont stand has high as the older ones im basically laying down on the tank. I went to the hardware store and got a chome spacer that had some weight to it and put it in the bar just like you would with the ebay bar end weights. It didnt help. The weird thing is when i ride without any barend weights there isnt so much vibration. That is the opposite of what everyone has been saying about barend weights. So what am i doing wrong or what can i do to the bike to make riding pleasurable again?

i dont understand why the bar end weights arent working, are they actually heavier?

find some good gloves if thats the case, squeez the tank with your knees, hold yourself up with your torso muscles, you realy shouldnt be putting much weight on the bars

My understanding of weighted bar ends is limited but, from what I do know, you can't just put more weight on the ends and expect a better result.

As far as squeezing the tank with your knees and using your lower back to take weight off of your hands.... It does work. You have to get used to it though. You will be sore, but, the more you ride, the less it will bother you.

Other than good gloves, and tire pressure, look into some Gel grips as well. I know that Driven makes some, and I hear that they are great for soaking up the vibrations.

Ha, nevermind....rraiderr beat me to it! LOL

Well I checked my tires and the front was around 32 so aired it up to 36. The rear was at 40 so i let some out to 36. I was going to get some gloves but couldnt find any i liked. My buddy said the gloves didnt really help him so i have kinda put buying a pair off. Ive read about the gel grips, and heavier barends but didnt want to waste the money if there not gonna fix the problem.

DMC get some gloves today. There are pic's on the site showing what happens to your hand if you go down not wearing gloves.

Most higher end gloves do help cut down vibration.

Your problem is you are looking to fix the problem and that is not going to happen. These bikes vibrate especially at higher RPM's all you can do is reduce the vibrations felt in your hands.

How did you come to settle on those tire pressures?

I have tried the bb mod. It helped just a little bit but not enough.

Im getting the bad vibes about 4-6K rpms. Around 5-6K the windshield starts vibrating. When I go up 8-10k it doesnt seem to vibrate as bad.

No frame sliders. What will frame sliders do?

I did switch out the stock windshield screws to metal ones. (I hate plastic screws) I also did it for looks. The windshield only vibrates between 4-5K then after that it doesnt vibrate so much. Same thing with the bars.

To whoever said these bikes vibrate, no, they shouldn't. Every other bike Ive rode didn't vibrate like some of these new gixxers. After searching through message boards, I'm starting to see a trend I don't like.

Something is making some of the new gixxers vibrate...

Every bike I have owned vibrates to some degree. No detriment to my riding thankfully :)

I think the noise from the windshield is because of the metal screws i put in. I dont remember hearing this noise when the plastic screws were in. Ill change them back out and see what happens.

It does seem like alot of people are complaining about the vibes. I have read post created by newbys and people that had different bikes. Im new to bikes so i cant compare. What kind of motor mounts do these bikes have? Maybe they changed the mounts to a poly or harder rubber compound mount??

What the hell are you talking about?

I have been riding gixxers since the days of the 1100's.

They are basically race bikes on the street and yes they vibrate/buzz. Damn near every bike review complains or comments about how the bikes buzz.

After reading lot's of posts some of you have clearly bought the wrong bike. The gixxer is not a sport tourer nor is it designed to run at low RPM's nor was it designed for fuel economey or to be comfy for long rides. The gixxer is designed for sport riding, meaning twisties, canyons, track days, racing and so on it is not a Harley.

If the bike is to hard core for some of you than buy something else as there are many options on the market as the gixxer was not the proper choice for you. There are lot's of ruber mounted cruisers out there that are smooth go out and get one and stop talking shit.

the windshield vibrates? holy crap. thats not the normal zuki vibration that everyone has.
does it get worse with motor speed or wheel speed?

His windscreen is vibrating because he replace the rubber mounts and plastic screws with sold metal ones. I believe he did this because he said it looks cool, clearly not for function over form.

I did not replace the rubber mounts. The only thing that was replaced was the screw alone. I did this because i thought it would look better with shiny screws. I also hate plastic screws.

I realize that this is a sport bike and not a cruizer. I dont really plan on hittin any twisties or canyons but if I was to I still wouldnt feel comfortable with doing that with numb hands. I wouldnt mind taking it to the drag strip though. I bought the bike for looks and performance. I knew it wasnt going to be a comfortable ride. I dont plan on taking it for long rides but i would think i could go 6 miles straight without my hands going numb. Other than the numb hands issue, i love the bike!
