Hey everyone,

I recently bought a 2013 750 and its my first gsxr. Been doing some of the bigger maintenance items since I just crossed the 30k mile mark. Just changed spark plugs, oil and filter, GPS since it was indicating gear changes on its own, and its running good for the most part. One thing that I haven't had much of a chance to look into yet is the idle.

Essentially, it idles fine on cold start and hovers around 1400rpm. If I start it again after a little bit, it'll go to about 1000-1200rpm and there's a chance it'll die unless I crack the throttle. No stuttering or lack of power once started so I wouldnt think fuel delivery would be a culprit. I'm going to clean the air filter since it needs it, but what issues do you think it could be? Just low idle setting? There's one ignition coil that probably needs to be changed but I need to check resistance on it.

Also on a different note, my shifter seems super sensitive. If I accidentally tap it, it acts like its expecting a gear change. Are gsxr shifters just sensitive? Coming from a 22' R7, where I lifted up on the shifter to take the slack out so I could shift smoother.

Any advice or input is appreciated. Thanks!

Congratulations on the new bike. Clean air filter may help. make sure you don't have too much slack in you throttle/cables and they are properly routed and secured. A small idle speed (mechanical) adjustment may get you where you don't have to nurse the throttle when warmed up at idle. I'm on a different model bike than you so I'm not 100% certain how to adjust the throttle valve, throttle position sensor (electrical?) if needed. Maybe the 750 folks will offer something more definitive from experience

What leads you to believe a coil needs to be changed?

GSX-R transmissions are damn near seamless, welcome to the world of one of the best drivelines in the industry, so probably no worries there. I wouldn't say they're overly sensitive. Adjust the shifter where it's intuitive when you're riding.

Best of luck

Thanks for the response! I cleaned and oiled the filter, and it idles great now. I haven't had it try to die on me since.

As far as the coil goes, two of them look new, one has a slight amount of rust, and the other has far more rust, which is why I considered replacing it, but it's not giving me any issues as of yet, so I'll leave it be.
