Was riding a week ago and the bike started idling low. Then it completely shut off. Had no power at all. I let it sit for a while then tried to turn it on. Had enough power to turn the light on and thats it. Not enough juice to start it. Was able to jump the bike and get it home where it then died again. The battery was completely dead. Its a month old battery. Thought it might be an issue with the battery not getting charged while riding. Had this issue before on a different bike and it turned out to be the rectifier.

Charged the battery. Replaced the rectifier yesterday. Rode for an hour and didnt notice any issues. Fired it up this morning and it was fine but I got a few blocks from home and it was idling low again. Was able to get back to my drive way when everything shut off again. No power at all. Battery is dead.

I'm thinking maybe I bought a bad battery last month? I should have gotten the battery checked out before paying $200 for a rectifier :banghead If its not a bad battery and not the rectifer, what else might I look into???

regulator. they go in pairs usually.

people get them confused so i just assumed. the stator is usually the part that goes bad first and most frequently. the reg/rec does go bad but not at the same intervals. the stator is almost alway the initial culprit and what people replace first. fyi the stator is in the motor and the r/r is on the tail. if you only check pwoer at the r/r itll say its bad if the stator is bad. you gotta start checking at the plug directly off the stator and trace it up. im confident youll find the issue their.

its not bad. you will need a new gasket too. test it and make sure thats your problem, no need to keep replacing parts hoping they work. the connectors themselves tend to melt and go bad also at the stator.

Replaced the stator last weekend. Seems to have solved the problem. Rode for an hour with no issues. Started up fine the next day and didn't die so the battery seems to recharge itself with no problems.

Replacing the stator wasn't too difficult. Had to get help to pull the cover off. Bought an aftermarker stator so the wire was a bit longer than OEM but we made it fit. Put some high temp sealant on and replaced the gasket.

Thanks for the help :cheers
