K7 600 17900 miles
Bike was cutting out power at 10k in second.
Thought maybe bad gas...filled up fresh gas (I was on e as well so thought that had something to do with it)
Driving and then boom bike shuts off. No fuel pump.
Took tank off hard wired fuel pump briefly to battery. Pumps fuel.
Tested constant wire to pump. Read like 10.9. Connected to switch wire. Bumped the starter..nothing.
Put kickstand down and in first tried to start..nothing. (as it should)
Put stand up, still in first, cranked (obviously didnt start bc the tanks off) but cranked
Dont think its the kill switch. Because its still trying to start.
Checked fuses and swapped the two relays connected to air box...still cranks but no voltage to switch wire.. I have no idea what it could be ? Took fuel pump out and checked all connections. Ecu messed up? I went over connections amd every appears to be fine..im at a loss..

I don't understand your terminology. (What is a constant wire and switch wire?)

The only way the fuel pump operates is when the ECM tells the fuel pump relay to turn it on.

First thing I would check is the battery voltage. You measured 10.9 volts at one place. I'm guessing that might be battery voltage which is a dead battery.

With this low voltage, the ECM will not work and turn on the fuel pump.

This is consistent with your loosing power and eventually the bike dying.

Put a voltmeter on the battery. It should be 12.6+ volts.
Turn on the ignition. The battery voltage should not drop more then about 1/2 volt at most.
Press the starter button. The voltage should not drop below 10 volts when cranking.

Tell us what you find.

What I mean by constant and switch would be red and yellow wires. I couldn't think of the exact name of what a wire that only gets power when its "switched" on...

but yes the 10.9 was what the "hot" wire to the pump was reading.
The battery did say 12.7..and dumb me I didn't even think to see what it reads when trying to start. I will check that after work...I picked up a local ECM last night...
This battery is about 5 months old, so if it would be something as simple as that...well im an idiot. But I will verify reading from the battery. And verify more in the wiring harness to make sure something didn't get shorted out...
I absolutely hateeeee electrical trouble shooting.

I will report back with my findings later on today around 1700.
Thanks.

after more reading(love an office job..) im leaning toward the signs of a faulty diode in the ignition switch. everything ive read points the same thing as mine...the only thing I cant put together is the power cutting out at 10k rpm....but I will do more checking of voltage...plug in new ecm...then check apart ignition and check the diode. lucky me, one of my best friends dad is an electrical engineering genius...like literally. he said he will come to my garage today and check it out(and ill be able to learn some new stuff) So im feeling optimistic ill have it resolved tonight and ill post up my findings for the next person...cause everything ive come across, no one has posted up any actual answers on anything. but ill update this

Unfortunately the is no "diode in the ignition switch".

Well it was the ecm. So not sure how mine just all the sudden just stopped working?
Soo at the bottom of the ignition there is not a diode ? ....

If you mean the ignition switch, no there is no diode there. The only diodes in the system are two in the kickstand safety relay box and one in the wiring to the kickstand switch itself. (there are also numerous LEDs and the diodes built into the R/R but I don't think you are talking about those)

I would check your charging voltage now that you have it running.

I know that overvolts kills ECMs.

Sometimes hardwiring things without knowing where you are putting current kills ECMs.

Well had it out on the track...
Second lap first session fuel pump shut off again...back to see whats shorting out I guess

Update for this. Starting tearing down the bike. Almost positive this is something to do with either the R/R or the fuel pump itself shorting under high acceleration (reccomended ny markbilt) ...so under my frustration and saying f it. It is almost winter time. I started engine removal and ordered a 750 motor to do a swap.thinking it will be a good winter project...however, the motor will be here friday...soo it will be done this weekend..

Have you tested direct current? what sort of pump, I have a couple of good one, one is like low miles and clean as hell. if you want your pump looking at and your local to M33 5HT let me know, I recently did my busa gen 1 and a k4 600, but no spark on k1 ffs!

Please stop dragging up dead threads...that's 2 in a row.
Look at the dates before you post.
