Hello all. Just picked up my 1st bike and it is a 98 katana 600F with about 15k miles. Didnt start when I got it but wanted it. Got it to start by replacing choke cable and it wasnt running steady. Idle would fluctuate and get below 1k and cut off. Adjusted knob and would idle at about 15 fine. Took off the air vent and found that 3 of the 4 carbs had the (forgive me if I am calling the piece wrong) choke blade/shaft moving up/down. This is on the air intake side of carbs. If I could get some help I would like to see if I can do the job myself. I can work my way around an engine just need direction. Also asked someone I know regarding the top half of engine sounding as if it was ran with no oil and maybe the lifters need adjustments and he stated since it is oil cooled it was normal for it to sound rough. Dont believe it but maybe I'm wrong. I did do oil/filter change. Valvoline 10 40w. Thanks again.
