Hi guys,

I have a k5 600 with 400 miles. I posted earlier about problems with the engine as it seems to be "struggling." There are no mods done to it, not even a pipe. Idle is set at about 1100, or so. W

WHEN I leave the light in first gear, the bike seems to "threaten to die". The engine sound goes quite low and I am afraid it might die on me. It has never done so, but I am trying to figure out what the problem could be. Its a possibility that I need to really "rev" the engine, but I have not changed my riding style and I never noticed this problem before.

Any ideas?

How is the clutch?? Adjusted recently or does it need it???

there should be about a half inch to an inch or so play in the clutch lever. I go by feel but an inch sounds right to me. you can adjust it by turning the little wheel right where the clutch cable connects to the lever. there is also another adjustment where it goes into the case cover right by your countershaft sprocket. take the little rubber cap off and you'll see a screw with a nut on it. loosen the nut and turn the screw out so it loosens up. then tighten it till you feel resistance and then back it out 1/4 turn. you've just adjusted your clutch. after you do that check the free play at the lever and adjust it how you like it using that little wheel I mentioned earlier. good luck.

if you still have problems, just give it more gas???

sounds to me like a TRE problem though.

Ya first maybe try your idle up a tad and of coarse your clutch. Well you pull your clutch and let it out, where in the travel does it really engage/disengage from the motor. A lot of people have it up right at the end. Mines smack dab at the end. Just a little pull on the lever and she's climbing in the revs.

probably just not giving her enough gas
Yea, that twisty thing in your right hand needs to be cranked on around

.

Try revving the engine once or twice before you let the clutch out and it will help you with the whole not giving it enough gas problem.
