Sorry for late reply, got my L2 plated 2013 GSXR for 15800 on road, paid outright. This is in AUD in Australia, because I know American road bikes are fairly cheap compared to over here. I thought I got a good deal but doesn't phase me, I'm very happy with it and money comes and goes.

The Monster, it just didn't suit what I was doing and what I will be doing in the future. It was hard to stick to the speed limit (sounds crazy now that I have a 1000) but the GSXR actually cruises waaay nicer and I can actually stick to the limit with little effort. Plus it handles better, doesn't deafen me, and I prefer the look of it.

hey hey Rookie. Bout time you did the welcome post hahaha. Now hurry the fuck up and post some pix or I'll have to lol
And yes....15800 from 20+k was a damn bargain!!!

PS and come on....a monster was never gunna compare to a Gix. I had it for two weeks remember hahaha

FYI. In Aus we pay through the nose for bikes. For a new Gix you can expect to pay over $20,000AUD. That's $20,913USD (includes stamp duty (government tax) and on-road costs (CTP Compulsory third party insurance & registration)).

So as an indication in Queensland stamp duty is 3% of the purchase price. So if you pay, like i just have for a new BMW S1000RR you fork out $24,000 + $720 stamp duty, $480 for rego and CTP and then $800 for full cover insurance just to roll it out of the dealership door.
For new luxury cars we pay the 3% but also a luxury tax on cars over $59,133AUD. (so most European cars come with a luxury tax) which is presently an additional 33% on top of the purchase price.

You only apply LCT to the value of the vehicle above the LCT threshold, less GST 10%. Generally, the LCT rate for cars delivered or imported after 3 October 2008 is 33%.

I think stamp duty is different for every state in Australia.
Jump on to www.bikesales.com.au to see new and used prices of bike in aus.
A Ducati Panigale S is roughly $33,000AUD
A Ducati Panigale standard is roughly $28,000AUD
and a second handTriColour S is $39,000AUD
To put it into some context though the (according to the government at least) average wage is $40,000 p.a. However some miners and say IT peeps are earning $150,000+ p.a
Living in Aus is not cheap that is for sure lol

^100% correct Rev!
I believe that LCT was 50% of purchase price before the intro of GST...
Don't steal: the government hates competition! Bastards.
Must move to Gurnsey.

^ Yeah mate, still around here.
Took a hiatus a while ago due to personal illness, then lost my Dad.
Also picking the child prodigy up from school every arvo knocks taking a bike to work and back on the head pretty quickly...
Anyway, I'm selling the thou (the missus was pleased, until she saw an email from a guy that has a motard that I'd like to buy. As it turns out she thought that I was selling it and not replacing it. Silly her).
Selling the 1k will force me to concentrate on the SRAD anyway, as it's still in a million pieces.
Still up for the ride mate!
Cheers, Ad
PS, back to the OP's topic now...
