Ok, so I posted her over a month ago as a new member since I bought my first gixxer as in the title. If anyone recalls I had to put it in the shop due to it bogging down and eventually not starting at all.
So I am having issues with my mechanic / the shop I have it in but I'm new to carburated machines so I can't decide if I should take it out and trouble shoot on my own or take it to a new mechanic.
So heres the issues :
Took it to the shop because I figured it needed a carb clean / sync - jumped around in the first 3k as in it seemed to bog down down randomly through that area of acceleration but then pick up. So in the 4 - 7k rpm it seemed seemed like smooth sailing worked like a dream. then above that it would also pull really well but I would hear a lot of loud clapping sounding ?backfires? maybe but it didn't seem to effect performance just was noisy as shit.
So took it to a local shop. and let them know my issues and also told them the spark plug wires need to be replaced because I seen some wear in them.
week 1 - ordered spark plug wires, said they waited for them to clean the carbs even though i asked them too
week 2 - went to clean carbs, broke throttle cable due to being worn ordered that still did not continue to clean carbs
week 3 - throttle cable came / clean carbs / they stated the jet needles need to be replaced due to wear as well as some o rings.
week 4 - stated he had the carbs apart and back together multiple times adjusting the jet needle height but is still experiencing the same issues I described above. He said it was choppy up till 4k then bogged out and "jumpped" up another 4k and was sounding terrible in the higher rpm. So he said we will need to order smaller jets due to them being non stock sizes.
So after this month I am just fed up with his lack of communication (I had to keep calling him even when he told me he would call when new parts were in ect) Is my frustration justified??? or am I being impatient should I take it to someone with a better reputation or try to trouble shoot on my own. I have a general knowledge of all the factoring components for their respective throttle position ect and work on my own cars but I just wanted to save myself the headaches of working on a bike.
Sorry for the long post I just needed to vent and if I get feedback thats just a bonus
