Hey all, been looking for a new 2 piece suit to ride in. Mainly looking at 2 piece because I ride street all the time, but I am going to my first track day this spring. Wanted something that would be safe, that I can use on the street and track. If I get into the track thing (most likely will, as I tend to have a slightly addictive personality!) I'll probably add a one-piece suit to the line-up strictly for track days, and keep my 2 piece for fun days on the street.

Been looking at a few different brands. Found an A* RC-1 2 piece in the color/size I like for a decent price (about $500). Also been looking at the JoeRocket Speedmaster 5.0 suits, as well as the new Sedici line from Cycle Gear. Checked out one of their jackets in-store, and really liked how it fit me. Haven't found and A* or Joe Rocket in my size anywhere near me to try on yet.

Anyone have a Sedici suit? How do you like it as far as venting, stitching, etc? Also, how would the RC-1 compare - quality wise - to the Joe Rocket?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

I just got the Speedmaster 5.0. I love how it fits, and the leather is a very high quality. The zipper though....sucks shit. It's plastic, and prone to breaking. My solution was to spend another $100 to have it replaced with a heavy duty metal zipper. It's in the leathermans place now. Should be back in 3-4 days.

RC-1 is an awesome suit.

I have the jacket and teh track pants.

I paid $500 for just the jacket itself.

Cool. I've been doing a great deal of research on them, and have been finding some people complaining about different Alpinestars stuff, depending on where it's made. Always thought they were pretty much top of the line for quality control. I was wondering about their differenet levels of gear and how they compared to the likes of the others.

Main reason I was looking at the other two brands are that I like the color of the JoeRocket suit (gunmetal that matches my bike...yeah, I know...) and I tried on a Sedici jacket in-store when I was there getting some other stuff, and liked the fit of it. Just haven't heard anyone around that has been using/testing them with any feedback.

I wouldnt bother with Sedici stuff unless you couldnt afford the good stuff.

A lot of A*s stuff is copied and sold on ebay. Just make sure you buy it from someone who has a name to live up to. Sportbike Track Gear has some amazing deals, especially to forum members. Talk to Jason.

I am not a fan of Joe Rocket stuff, I have heard bad things in the past, although, my brother had a JR jacket and it protected him in his crash, and one of my freinds loves his JR suit. I guess their top oif the line stuff is good.

RS Taichi has some great leather jackets and leather track pants (or street pants for that matter) that zip together very nicely. I have a RS Taichi RSJ826 Jacket and RSY817 Pants (Street) and they are great. I even wore them to the track once last year. Together, you are going to pay more than with the A* 2 piece you were talking about, but it's another option to look at.

:cheers

I'll try to keep this short, and hopefully it doesn't sound like my usual 2pc rant...

You don't want a "2pc suit". If you wear just the top of the suit, the top (not a jacket, a top) will be super short and be cut closer to your belly button than your belt. You want a jacket and a pair of pants to zip to it.

Well shit. I guess if I'm gonna get a 2 piece it needs to be a Hooters brand! Sounds like I'm gonna spend more than I first intended, as usual.

I really need to find at least one cheap hobby. Between my drag truck, golfing, gambling, fishing, and now the bike I'm gonna need the wife to get a second job!

There is no doubt about it, this sport is insanely expensive. I spent over $4500 on gear alone last year. Then there's all the money we sink into our bikes. Insurance, upgrades, track time, it's crazy to think about how much money we dump into this sport yearly. PLEASE DON'T TELL MY WIFE!!:biggrin

:cheers

What he's illustrating is, that the jacket and pants of 2 piece suits aren't supposed to be worn separately.

A 2 piece is simply a 1 piece suit that can be separated for convenience when off the bike.
I know exactly what he's illustrating, but I'm interested in the GP Pro, both the coat and the two piece suit. I'm wondering is it better to buy them together (the suit) or if what he is saying true of this suit as well and I should buy the coat and pants separate. :lol

i have the rc-1 2 piece suit and it fits great. no problems with my belly button showing.

although a 2 piece works, i wish i had gotten the 1 piece almost from the day i got it. i have personally seen a dude crash at the track with a 2 piece suit that split along the waist and it wasn't a pretty sight. he got so rashed up, he walked around for about 5 minutes before passing out right infront of everyone.

also, not sure if this makes a difference for you, but the rc-1 jacket has no outer pockets. if you buy the jacket alone i hear it does come with, but not mine.

i wear full leathers on the street now, so it wouldn't make any sense for me to buy another 2 piece...

Mine was bought as just a jacket and it does have pockets on the outside.

Jason, would the 2pc GP Pro suit top be different than the coat alone?

yeah, the top of a GP Pro 2pc suit is a completely different product than a GP Pro jacket. Different cut (tighter in the suit), higher cut, and a bunch of other differences.

the design is the same, similar looks and panels, but the cut itself is very different. :cheers

You're like the encyclopedia of motorcycle gear. :wacko

I got a Dainese T Avro Div two piece this week (same color as in the vid). I've owned three one piece suits in the past, currently have a BKS, but I never did like wearing them on the street. When I go on long rides I stop and eat, ect and do feel kind of corny having the upper half of the suit hanging down behind me. This suit fits better than any 1 piece I've had. Very form fitting, the back and ass aren't saggy and it has a small hump which I prefer and I don't look like I have a cameltoe. And they go over my boots. Excellent buy.
