Why? I have a really messed up wrist, neck, back, and these things are the difference between enjoying my ride and not enjoying my ride. I have known very fast riders that use them. Retarded? Don't get it.
:facepalm

Well a lot of riders on this sight don't cover a lot of miles in a riding season. Try riding about 200 miles and I bet you will think twice before you down something you never tried. Helibars, Corbin seat, double bubble are some of the first mods to do right behind suspension work if you plan on covering lots of miles. If hitting the curves is your thing then you are good stock.

Digging up an old thread to see some recent feedback on these helibars. Today when I went riding into the mountains after about 150 miles my wrists felt like I just punched someone like 50 times loosely. I LOVE this bike but something has got to give. I love long rides....I like twisties too, but I think I could enjoy the twisties even more If I wasn't sore as hell. I have an 06 750 so they are made for my bike as well on the site for the helibars Thanks peeps :thumbup

They are great. They don't slow me down, but make my ride much more comfortable.

Cool, the sucky part is that they cost almost $300....and I can't find used ones anywhere. The 06-09 gsxr 600-750 ones. Any pointers?

NOTE: I also looked at the spieglar's...they look really weird and are really expensive, like right at $500. The helibars seem to be the ticket

The Helibars are cool because they move the bars back as well. None of the other brands can do that, without sweeping the angle back, if they have a clamp in bar (spiegler, and most all others). The helibars are pricey because they are a solid piece of billet. This allows them to move the bars back where if the bars clamped in, they would need to be where the fork tube is. Plus, they look almost stock. I had mine hard anodized black.

Yours looks great man! Yea like I was saying the helibars are what I will probably be buying, they do look stock and appear to be exactly what I am looking for. What did you do to your brake reservoir there? Have any other issues? Are the levers turned down somewhat? Cheapest place to buy them or do you have to purchase straight from Helibars? want to make sure to get the genuine artical. Thanks for your input man

I think I bought mine straight from Helibars. Honestly can't remember. The reservoir came with my Brembo master cylinder when I bought it from Motomummy. It has a different hose size from stock. I actually bought a nice Evotech one thinking the one that came with the master might be cheasy, but I ended up liking the one that came with it. Now I have an expensive Evotech paperweight sitting in the top of my toolbox :) One thing to note about the Helibars, I had to remove the guide for the throttle cables under the speedo housing and run aftermarket brake lines as well. Stock setup was too tight.

Goodridge superbike lines. If you get Spiegler, you could have them make them an inch or so longer. Mine are R6 brake lines. I have R6 calipers, and I noticed the stock lines for those calipers are a little longer than stock gsxr. I knew if I got R6, I'd be OK. For a stock throttle, you can have Motion Pro make longer stock throttle cables for you. The revolver throttle I have requires me to run them different due to the angle they come off the throttle, and the stock length works that way. If you are running a stock throttle, you can make it work by removing the cable guide under the speedo, but I would just get longer ones made.

So what you are saying is that the stock r6 brake lines will plug n play with this set-up? I have the gsxr calipers of course now and don't plan on changing calipers...Those goodridge superbike lines..would I go with r6 or gsxr lines I guess is what I am asking? I think I will be ok with just removing the stay on the throttle cable...unless the little bit longer cables are cheap to get, or unless it is a big stresser on the stock cables...
