I use a backpack now, but the zipper is busted and I need something to replace it, been thinking of a tank bag. I need something that will fit my two usual loads (one at a time):
1.)A set of gym clothes, sneakers, and my lunch for work
or
2.)Clear visor, full-size book (~9" x 11"), and notepad for night school. Any suggestions?

I've found the Motocentric Mototrek 19L and the Joe Rocket Manta XL, but I don't know if they're big enough or not since everyone seems to only give the exterior dimensions of the bag... I don't exactly want the largest one out there (unless I need that one), but it needs to fit my stuff.

BTW, this is going on my Gen II Hayabusa, so I have all kinds of room on the tank, no concerns there

No help here for a tank bag, but if you're looking for a decent replacement backpack later, check into the Knox K-Pack. I just got it and it holds a lot, yet lets some air flow under it while wearing it AND has a waterproof cover.

Good luck w/ the tank bag though.

I also have a Knox 6 pack and its a great rucksack...If you use a tank bag almost daily, as I used to, may I suggest...a top box and rack?! I know, I know...I wouldnt have said that 6 months ago but after picking up a second hand rack and box(for half the price of the tank bag I have!) its been so useful. More security and the box comes off from the base plate quicker than a tank bag, the rack being quite un-obtrusive when the box is off the bike

Is that a Revs Performance sport rack? Also what top box/base plate setup is that?

I don't know about the notepad and the book, but on my standard size manta I could stuff in an extra visor. The manta xl is significantly larger than the manta so the book is possible. I have actually been wanting to buy a manta xl to replace my faded manta, it's 5 years old with a lot of time spent in the weather and still no issues. Cycle gear carries them if you live near one you can take a look in person which is what I prefer to do when buying gear like that. I still carry a backpack too though and mine is a cortech brand that costs about the same as the manta xl. Even with a big tank bag it's harf to replace a backpack.

Yeah. I'm heading to Cycle Gear today actually, kind of close to me (30 minutes). I'm leaning towards the icon urban bag now. It looks more like a backpack that also can be used as a tank bag(magnets on it) rather than the other way around (simple shoulder strap or something) like most of the tank bags, which I like.

Well, I ended up purchasing the Icon Urban tank bag. I've been able to try it out for a couple of days now and I really like it. Picked it up off the ebays for $50. It's basically a motorcycle oriented backpack with four little magnets (that hold it well) to use as a tank bag, and it can hold everything I need it to and more. :punk I like having it as a tank bag with the clear top. I think that will come in useful for directions and maps.
