So ive been having issues with my '06 Gsxr where when i turn the bike on the instrument cluster, hi/lo beams, turn signals, and the hazards dont work... also my turn signals front and back would stay lit! But the bike starts and runs perfectly. So i bypass the ignition and find out that the gray wire that goes into the ignition switch is hot for some reason...From what ive read the gray wire is the instrument cluster/light/horn... so i unplug the front harness and the back turn signals/ brake light act normal.. turn signals work(a little fast since the front isnt plugged in).. My question is what wires could be shorting out??? im about to cut the front cluster/lighting harness open just thought id get some expert input first...

ANY AND ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
THANKS GUYS!!

My guess would be a bad contact in the ignition switch. I'm thinking that the bad contact in the switch is heating up due to high resistance and then heating up the wire. When you disconnect the front harness the load is reduced allowing some of the remaining components to work.

Let us know what you find.

Thats exactly what i thought... Thats why i bypassed the ignition switch... wired it up to my kill switch... same problem... so i took the gauge cluster out cut the harness open and didnt find anything... so i start plugging each wire in one by one.. turn signals work, hi/lo beam both work until i plug the right side marker in... turns out the bulb is bad??? does that sound like that should be the issue?? everything is back to normal now that i remove that bulb... i even put the opposite side bulb in and it working fine... i cant believe all that work for a bulb?:banghead

After i put the whole bike back together it and ride it for 10 mins i came home to read up on a FI error, im in the house no longer than 5mins, i go back out to put it in dealer mode but the damn electrical problem is back.... i put my hand up in the front behind the headlight jiggled the wires and it went back to working perfectly.... then back to not working... so im guessing it must be a short or bad connection in that wiring... Anyone know how i can spot a bad connector? what should i be looking for?

Ive kept the two unplugged for as long as i could(didnt want to get pulled over)..
I rode to work with both unplugged today and everything was fine until my ride home...all of a sudden i lost power to my gauges, break lights, turn signals and high beam... once i got home i got it to work again my messing with some wires but then without touching anything it did it again... i plugged both markers in with the high beam on(lobeam burnt out)it worked for about 5 mins then the gauge cluster and the lights stopped working when i put the high beam on...turn the bike off and turn it back on with the highbeam off and its fine, back on it goes off... i unplugged the high beam and everything works fine...it seems like if theres to much energy draw on the front harness it shuts off... any ideas??? im at a complete loss...

I took a look at the wiring diagram and I think all these items share a common ground wire (Black/White) that goes through the front harness plug. I would pull that plug apart and check for a bad connection at that wire.
