The manual I have for a K6-600 oil change says 2.6 quarts of oil are required with a filter change but I don't see anything in the sight glass after the recommended 3 minute settling time (or even an hour). Does my K6-750 need the same volume of oil? If it does what's going on? The only thing I can think of is I installed a K&N filter that says it has a check valve to keep oil in the filter to prevent dry starts, does the stock filter have one? Is this the reason my oil looks low? I defiantly don't want to overfill so should I run the bike with nothing showing in the sight glass?

Start it. Let it run for a couple of minutes. Turn off, let stand for a couple of minutes. Have some one hold the bike level. Fill to between half and full on sight glass. Dont worry about it.

Exactly how to do it.

Is it sitting on the side stand? Bike has to be level so pull it on up.

wile the oil is draining, take the filter out of the box, peel off the plastic, and flip it gasket side up and put it back in the box. pour oil into the filter quickly until it is full. oil the gasket too. you will see the oil level in the filter drop as the element absorbs the oil. by the time you are ready to install the filter, the filter will look empty again. put the filter on quickly. not a lot of oil is going to come out.

hold the bike level and fill it until the oil is at the top of the sight glass and there is only a small part of the sight glass not covered. put the bike outside and run it, after it runs for a minute bring it back inside and your oil level should be perfect.

i use the Mobil oil and have no issues what so ever.

I use about 3 1/2 quarts of castrol r4/4t oil.....
If you read the manual it specifies 2.6 quarts but it also says you need to be in between the L/F lines. Add another 3/4 quarts of oil and you should be pretty close have someone level the bike for you and take a look at the glass.....
