Hey hey

Well it's time to get my bike ready for summer. The engine has been rebuilt with 1109 Wiseco pistons and the bike is an old 750 Gixxer '89 with a 1058 engine from '86.

I've only driven it about a 100km (60 miles for you yanks ;)) and the carbs still need some tuning but it does run good.

The problem is that it doesnt start when hot... just won't turn over.
I've got a new battery in it but that didn't do the trick.

So what can I do? There's no way I wanna have the risk of it stalling at a light and then not being able to start her up again. :scratch

sounds like a bad starter to me.

A massive guess and highly unlikely but.

Warmer = higher compression = starter can't handle the jandel/flip flops. What does it do, buzz or click or nothing?

And Grrrrrrrrr @ people blowing up bike engines from outright stupidity or carelessness, it seems so unfair that my bike bends a rod just being used daily. Bloody fools, i'll have them - so ungrateful and abusive. Of course they're not going to last redlining stationary with no airflow, especially the oil cooled gsxr in that vid.

some people eh..

it would be a good idea to check the valves on it.having trouble starting when hot is a common problem if the valves are to tight.
i'm not an engine expert but i read it somewhere on a forum.
do a search on valves

Bad starter... possible but unlikely.

Coils.... hehe naa hardly

Valves... Newly rebuilt... twice! due to bad main bearing bolt
And valve timing checked three times due to bad carbs. So I think they are ok.

Too high compression.... yes seems like it. It doesn't have the power to turn it over when hot unless I hook it up to a car battery.

Nobody had this problem before with forged pistons??

I tried to find a better battery but found none that would fit in my bike (unless I relocate the ignition).

Only solutions I can think of: Get idle mixture spot on for easier starting.
And rewiring the start switch so I can crank it and then throw on the Ignition after it starts turning.

I seem to recall ur having this issue ur last summer when the engine was newly rebuilt. Advice at the time suggested that the high compression was the issue and it would free up when u got some miles on the motor. I guess that wasn't the case???

Hi guys i hope someone can help me i have a 2005 gsxr 750 and recently i started getting problems with my bike first i got the F1 code flashing saying C24,C25,C26,C27 meaning something to do with the ignition signals .I have fixed that problem and im gettin -C00 for no fault, but now the bike struggels to start,i have noticed if i get someone to hold his hand at the end of my exhaust end kind of "choke" it it starts easier what could be the ploblem ????? some say it might be a bend valve but there is no problem with the power of the bike even if it's hard to start

PLEASE HELP ????????

This section is for the 1st and 2nd gen gsxr's which were entirely air/oil cooled (1985 ->1992) you would probably get better help in the section for your bike:

I'm purely taking a guess since I don't own one of those bikes, but if that works - then possibly the exhaust flapper valve servo isn't working properly (if it has one??) but that would probably throw a code, but again i don't know.

Hehe odd to post this question in an ancient thread for old oilers.

As for my starting problem I haven't fixed it yet since i've been busy with school but now it's time to get the bike set for summer.

Progress so far is i've installed two batteries in it (one is a high performance unit) and if that doesn't do it justice i'll replace the starter for the hell of it :p
