So I took my set of almost new Michelin Power Pures off my bike because I am selling it and swapped them of an older set of tires. The Pures were 120/60/17 front and 180/55/17. The new tires are a Pure 120/60/17 front and a PP 2ct 190/50/17. I have never run a 190 on the rear of my bike but I got the 2 for 30bucks along with a bunch of other parts from the same guy. I have searched and read up on 190's and all I have got is mixed emotions about the tires on a 600. Looks to me like it flattens out the profile of the tire which would make turn ins take longer. Am I correct on this? I only road my bike on this tire for about an hour and to me it feels sluggish to turn as opposed to my 180. Can anyone think of an advantage besides it makes your bike look cooler. Which BTW is one reason I got it so I can put "190" in the ad because apparently this grabs people's attention. What are yalls thoughts on this subject? I would like to know because I am trying this 190 out until it is sold and trying to figure out what sizing I may run in the future. So far it looks like 180.
Thanks

it is a bit "flatter" tire, which will tend to slow turn-in down..

I don't really think they look "cooler", just different.

I would stick with the 180/55/17 in the future, as they are a tiny bit cheaper, and they are what your bike is designed to operate with.

most will run the PP 2CT 190 so they get a larger contact patch in the turns. Mostly seen on liter bikes though or people who spend a lot of time dragging elbow. With the little baby torque on a 600 compared to the 1000 - that large of a contact patch isn't necessary.

ya tried a 2ct once cause my shop didnt have n e 180s in n i vowed to never go back! i liked the smaller profile but turns sucked! also when i was in a turn it was either turn slow and normal or get low, it felt like it would just tip right over on you in turns. i can say this as my buddy said the same thing when he took my bike for a spin one day, i hadnt even mentioned this at all to him i honestly thought it was all in my head and i just needed to get used to the tire.

The responses sound about how I feel right now. Was not sure if it just was in my head or not. and yes sad but true people think 190's are cool kinda like 520 kits also, may not know the difference but its cool to say and its also cool to have a fat back tire. Ive had the option a few times to go 190 but I never saw what the big deal was.

Yeah, but it will help you slow down when you're jamming on your bake brake to stop... :monkeyface

Ive ried this before, not 190's but running a 160 instead of a 150.. hated it.. Turn in is horrible, and mid corner / full lean i find that the bike feels unstable and wants to tip to much, I'd say this is because of the extra sidewall roll that doing this produces.

I dont like it because i find its hard to judge what your bike is doing. turn in slows down, but when you hit that point and the tyre rolls in, it tips more then you want it too.. :(

But yes cheap tyres can be a good enough reason for doing this.. as that is why i did it a few times, as they were free from my old work. :)

That slow turn in is from your bikes newfound width and that front tire profile height. Stick with the 180 man. The 2cts are tall and literally fall in so fast it'll scare ya. Why would you want to take that flickability away from your 600. I ran a 190 on my 750 for two days and hated it. It was a track tire from my zx10 and stupid motorcycle superstore bo'd my pirelli sc pro 180 so I had to cause I caught a nail on my 750. My zx10 is a track bike it doesn't even have lighting or plugs for it. Has race harness. I lost some torque too
