How do the brake switches mount to the brake lever? Looking at the pics of most rear sets, there doesn't seem to be a mount.
Aftermarket rearsets...

On rear sets you have to switch over to a banjo bolt pressure switch. No big deal, just a couple wires to patch.

just buy the switch and install its 20 bucks and takes less than 1/2 hour.

Maui safety inspections weren't that difficult. But of course it depends on your luck and who actually inspects your ride.
Now on the other hand, the "Safety Inspections" they run out on Mokulele Hwy have been carefully avoided in the past on late weekend nights. :biggrin Good thing you can spot those lights from miles away.
