kerosene is tame enough to not damage the the inner working of the chain... NEVER USE GASOLINE!!! That'll do one thing, and one thing only - (setting up a nice visual here folks)... Imagine riding your favorite twistys, newly fresh gasoline-cleaned chain... deteriorating as you round the next sharp curve, steady throttle... straight-away, crack the throttle, chain breaks, locks up your rear wheel... sends you hurtling into whatever direction you hadn't asked to be thrown towards... and,

Well, there you go. Don't use gasoline to clean your chain. It'll hurt it, and it'll hurt you.

I prefer using diesel (its very close to kerosene) for chain cleaning with a toothbrush. For chain "lube" I buy spray Teflon in a can. Completely clear, dries fast, and doesn't attract dust/dirt/grime to the chain and immediately make it dirty. Bought my last can of it at Lowes.

Just for grins, I'll throw out what Suzuki recommended back in the good old days. Clean with kerosene, coat with a thin film of heavy motor oil for protecting the links. Lube isn't needed.

Every 600 miles...

They didnt have my latemodel powdercoated wheels in FRICKEN WHITE back in the day apparently..............LOL

Either that or they intended on you cleaning more than riding so you would never need service while in the 3yr guarantee period????
