CR9EHIX-9 vs CR9EIX vs CR9EIA-9

only difference i see is the gaps for EHIX & EIA is .9mm and the EIX gap is .8mm.

i was at cycle gear store and requested ngk iridiums for 06 gsxr600 and the kid popped out with the CR9EHIX-9's. i didn't realize the H in there until i got home.. i couldn't figure that out the difference between EIA & EHIX either.

i know in my 08 gsxr it comes with CR9EIA-9 as stock and i replaced that with CR9EIA-9. I've seen people talk about how they replaced their EIA's with EIX's on this forum even though they have a smaller gap size.

EHIX appears to be for hondas but hold same gap and dimensions as EIA so i assume using either or is fine?

The difference is in the threads on the spark plug. One is threaded the entire length while the other is not.

I'd go back and get the correct ones to be safe. I'd think they would thread into the holes at different depths if installed on the wrong cylinder head because you'll run out of threads with the ones you got.

CR9EIX is the correct plug.

CR9EIX is the correct plug.
EIA is the one the manual states as replacement iridium plug :scratch
the EIX has a smaller gap than EIA

Oops, I wast just assuming it was the same as my GSXR, guess I could have read everything. But still, the length of the threads are different. While the reach is still the same, the threads start and stop at different points. Look at the pictures on the manufacturers website to understand the difference. Look where the threads are. The plugs you need are threaded up and down the entire length of the plug while the ones with the H are only threaded partly up.

I see that the lengths are the same and the reach is the same. But threads are bout only 3/4 of the eia and eix's. I don't see how the reach could be the same (I know what the site says).

My other question is what's the diff between eia and eix (the site just says one is .8mm gap and other is .9mm).

08/09/10 gsxr calls for eia's. While some ppl say use eix yet they hold diff gap sizes (according to ngk.com)

I just wanna get a clear understanding here. I'm not trying to argue with anyone :)

The reach is how far the plug goes in while fully seated. So, if you install each of those plugs on the cylinder heads they go in, then the reach all equals the same amount. However, installing on the wrong cylinder head would not give you the same install depth even though the reach is correct on the plug because you would bottom out the threads.

As to the other 2 plugs, I think your right. Looks to just be the gap that's different. They sell these plugs pre-gapped for your convenience and so you don't damage that tiny little electrode, which is real easy to do if your using one of those cheap gap checkers that wedges in there. I still check the gap on all my plugs though, factory tolerances aren't always the best.

I won't get into a debate on the plug gap, but for simplicity's sake, just get the plugs the manual says to.
