sorry guys but i didn't find the answer in all these pages.

i ordered and paid for an 55w kit and i received a 35w one. i just figured it out this month (after 4 months of placing the order)

now my question is: will a 55w work with my current bulb (the one from the 35w kit)?

is there anyone in US who can receive and forward the package to London?

thanks a lot for all your help

id go with the 55w for sure...I'm waiting for my ups package 2morrow as i ordered two 9005 high beam 55watt bulbs. With all the night riding ive been doing i finally sacked up and bought some HID's for the highs.. I currently rock nokya yellow's in the highs so i ordered some 3k bulbs, along with replacement 6k bulbs. DDM is the shiiiiit. I'll post some pics up this weekend of how it all comes together. Might go with one 6k and one 3k, not sure yet. Gotta wait till its dark and see wahts the brightest. my friend has a 3k in his low beam and its outta control bright, and surprisingly its been a year without getting pulled over or any hassle from the po po.

*** Go with ddmtuning.com for your HID stuff, NOT sharphid.com. I made the mistake and ordered from sharphid.com and got 35watt kit instead of a 55watt kit for my audi's fog lights and was such a hassle to exchange i said f^$& it and kept the product. Also sharphid.com is a MIDDDLEMAN company, look at his replacement bulb prices, and hit kit prices, they are obsurd compared to ddmtuning.
I will like to see what your set-up looks like....please post some pics as soon as the job is complete. Im curious how much brighter the 55w is compared to the 35w. Thx

I cant get to the 35w ballasts as they are installed in my audis fog lights. Here is what a 3k, and 6k in the highs looks like, along with a 6k in the low beam. All are 55w kits. I will wait till tonight to see what im going to go with as far as dual 6k's, dual 3k's etc. Looks pretty nice.. I will tell you one thing though, the 55w kits wash out alot of color compared to the 35w kit.

When i get a better camera ill do some night shots, etc.

Thanks for the pic! I currently have 35w 6k in the low beam, and trying to decide if I should switch to 55w 6K in low beam and do 35w 6k in the high beams...not sure if that set-up would match? Are you happy with your set-up?
Post some pics from the front view if you ever get a chance:cheers

I see that gixxerboys sell 25K! are they working fine? my dealer tells me that the glass can melt!!

i don´t think that I will have problems with 6 or 8K beams but 25 seem very :eek:hmy to me!
The gixxerboys kit is not 25000k. They do that shit to sound cool. That temperature color, if it existed, would be beyond purple. Just stick with the proven quality kits from ddm (they are actually cheaper too). 6000k will have a hint of blue (mostly white) and 8000k will be pretty blue.

Excellent! I have seen instructions on how to install the kit on youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl2-8qUjefI

However no one explained the best location for the ballast.(in the video i mean not this thread!!!)

I followed your guide and velcro'd the ballast to the plastic shelf, followed by zip ties to make double sure. Its not moved since at all....

Best ÂŁ60 modification done to date. I can see a lot more, and a lot further at night with this 6000k kit.

:burnout

I ordered my kit from GIXXERBOYS, installed it tonight. Just did the low beam for now, not sure if I am gonna do all 3 or not now after reading all these posts.

I installed everything and tie wrapped all of the wires down, everything fits well. I am having an issue with the light flickering and turning off randomly. It seems like it only happens when you hit uneven roads with small repetitive bumps or a really rough road. I noticed it right away tonight as I was going around a curve and the light just totally shut off for about 2 seconds and then came back on. I pulled over at a gas station and checked all of the connections again. I noticed that if I wiggle the large red plug that goes from the ballast that the light will flicker on and off. I unplugged the plug thinkin that it was just loose and plugged it back in firmly. It was fine for a while but a couple hours of riding the same thing is happening again. I wasnt sure what to do from here.

Anyone have any ideas? I emailed GIXXERBOYS too, I dont think its a bad ballast or anything, just seems like the wiring is loose even though it is fully plugged in.

The gixxerboys kits have proven more than once to be a low quality option. I don't understand why people pay more for that kit than the high quality DDM kits. Anyways, sounds like you have a loose (and thus intermittent) connection within the connector body. You will either need to get new connectors from gixxerboys or you can just cut off the connectors and solder the leads together.

Yup... downsc123 is right! gixxerboys sell 25K just to sound cool... infact I'm not even sure thats on the actual Kelvin temperature list. I'm a photographer and even whitebalancing temperatures don't exceed that much for color temperature, nor do aquarium bulbs (and those bulbs need to be exact) achieve a blue that is 25,000K.

Also, your dealer has absolutely no clue about HID. HID actually uses less wattage and puts out LESS heat than an incandescent or halogen bulb. I believe for legality reasons, dealerships cannot endorse the use of certain modification parts. Especially when it comes to modifying electrical systems.

I've posted this table or graph previously in this thread probably like page 15 or 20 can't remember. This is an APPROXIMATION due to a number of measuring and wattage per system.

Yup!!! I agree! gixxerboys kits are actually very low quality and I'm not saying this to be very biased towards one company, but if you read alot of the past postings in this thread, time and time again, members are very unsatisfied with their kits. Considering the misleading information of the spectacular 25,000K system, gixxerboys is a system I do not recommend to anyone I know.

They won't match up very evenly. In fact the 55w system will actually have a slightly more "white" hue to it due to the luminosity output of the ballast. So, your 35w system will be much more blue compared to the 55w system.

YUP! I've done it 35w to a 55w ballast and a 55w bulb to a 35w system... compatible.

quick question, has anyone else gotten a code "5D" after having these HIDs installed? i have a 55w kit and the only other electrical thing i added was the scorpio alarm system. The bike got that "5D" code and then just shut itself off. i couldn't get it going again, and took it over to the dealership. they said that i may be overpowering the recharging system or something with my addons? Is it possible they're right? i didn't think these lights drew that much power...
The SD (not 5D) code casued by either a steering damper malfunction, abnormal battery voltage, or a speed sensor malfunction. If you haven't messed with the steering damper and haven't seen anything weird on the speedo, I would guess its battery voltage especially since the bike died on you. Check the voltage on the battery and then start troubleshooting a partial ground somewhere.

I agree! on page 1A-3 of the Suzuki Genuine Service Manual for 2008-2009 GSX-R750, it states:

"SD":
The LCD panel indicates "Sd" when the steering damper solenoid malfunction, battery abnormal voltage and speed sensor malfunction occurred.

So basically, it's turning off the engine for YOUR safety. Check the battery then the generator, then check the speed sensor. Finally if nothing works then check the steering damper solenoid (most expensive to replace).

It shouldn't be caused by the system since I have a 55w system, a GPS recovery system, and a scorpio alarm system. I've run it like this for the past year.

hope it helps.

When you first get the kit, just hook it up (you don't need to hide any of the wires or mount anything yet) and see if the bulbs lights up. If you get nothing, you need to reverse the polarity. Post # 128 of this thread gives the instructions for doing it.
Geez downsc, seems to me that you've been keeping this thread tidy while I've been at Trackdays this summer! hahaha. So what do you think, I've been contemplating on doing a YouTube video exclusive to this thread for installing the HID system. I think that it might lay to rest a lot of questions.

Have you memorized alot of my post #'s to be able to quickly refer back to them if someone asks a question about something? =)

I don't like that trade....you doing trackdays and me on the computer. Next spring we shall trade that role. Doing a video will help for a while, but once it gets buried down a page or two, it will be lost as people don't search much or read the entire thread (it is getting pretty long).

I just got the post 128 memorized as the polarity reversing question has been asked so many times :cheers
