Alrighty about time to get a new set of tread for my bike. Looked at all my options but never ridden on anything execpt the good ole bridgestones. Was looking at Michelin Pilot Powers, Pirelli's and halfway thinking of staying with what i have now. Just wondering whats a good price for each and about how many miles i can expect out of them. I do ride the twisties about twice a month but mainly commute with my bike back and forth to work. Anyone care to help?

Look into the Pilot Power Road 2ct's. Dual Compound. I was gonna get those, but didn't have the funds... So i got Pirelli Strada's. The are a new high mileage compound. I put 400 miles on them in 2 days. Found some okay twistes, and they stuck really well..

I paid 258 shipped for the strada's. Cheapest i saw the Pilot Power Road 2's were like 305. I think both are good tires for longevity and twisty grip

Just try the search...And enter Tires or Pilot power and you'll have all the answers. This is what i did :)

Check out the Pirelli Stradas they are a great overall tire!!!

Pilot powers 2ct will be good for commuting and twisties or even some trackdays and are about 300ish a set depending on your area

If you want something a little stickier I would reccomend the bt003, but since you are commuting allot id stick the the pilot power 2ct.

BT003 is DOT race tire... for someone who does twisties 2 times a month... this would be the biggest waste of money and a real danger since the tires are worthless unless you heat them up properly...

if u look on bridgstones website, they actually recommend using tirewarmers on the bt003 before you use them...lol

this is NOT the tire for this guy... now if he were doing twisties every weekend, rode hard as fuck, and only commute was to and from the twisties, then yeah man go for it... but since that is not at all what he described, lets not steer him in the wrong direction

next post will recommend slicks... lol

i've ran pilot power 2cts before on my r6, and i loved them. they warm up real fast and very sticky. the weather in hawaii is nice so tires warm up relatively fast. only problem is some roads are real shitty here, tires wear out pretty fast. i used it for commute and bomb some hills. i paid about 300 for my set. not too bad. they lasted me about a couple of months since i've been driving my wrx to work here and there.

The BT-016 our k8/k9's come with are rock solid, great tires. Put the dyna beads in too, and the tire will last a very long time. I have no complaints with either the bt-016 or the 2ct, both in my opinion are the best out there...
the bt016 that comes stock sucks... the aftermarket bt016 is the best tire for the money thats out there!

:rolleyes

No, the stock BT-016's are perfectly fine.

If you are having issues with the stock tires, you need to adjust the nut behind the clip-ons.

There is no "best tire for the money". They all have different characteristics.

there is such a thing as best tire for the money when u take into account the desired purpose for the tire.... unless uare saying there cant be such a thing as categories of tires...

i guess i should have specified that

NOOOOOO!!!
commuting alot so you recommend Pilot Power 2ct? why?

go with a sport-touring tire: Diablo Strada, Road Attack, Roadsmart, Pilot Road, Pilot Road 2, Metzeler Z6, etc.

you can drag knee and then some on a sport touring tire, don't waste your money on a full on sport tire for commuting and twisties

Agreed completely.

I can tear the twisties up on my 550+lb Sprint...with saddlebags installed...on a set of BT-021's (Sport touring tire).

I would go as far as to say that 90% of this board has no business being on supersport tires........yes, the BT-016 are sport tires.

Go with a Pilot Power front and a Pilot Road rear. That combination will give you excellent grip and last a long time.

I Have pirelli corsica's.. I got 9k miles outta my last pair
