By request from Koolaid I took some photos of the bikes after I changed over the bodywork and put the rest of it on. Still need to put the speedo on as well as the chain, and I'm missing a few fasteners, but other than that she's just about ready. The 7/11 needs a new clutch but that will have to wait until I get back. The bodywork swap was done because XRacerX suggested that the 750 bodywork with the 1100 paint scheme would be more at home on the 7/11 and I thought he was right. Now that I see it on there I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me in the first place. Thanks Darrin!

Yup, it's a 75. L82 with a 4 speed. Needs a paint job and a few other things. Big story behind that car and I haven't worked on it for years because of it. Not gonna share the whole story here, but the short version is that my Dad and I were both restoring Corvettes - he an 81, and me the 75. He lived in Florida at the time and I in Virginia, so we shared photos of our progress back and fourth, one always trying to out-do the other. He had a heart attack under his car and died one night and I haven't touched mine since. I'm slowly starting to consider moving back into it again - though it's been quite a few years since this happened.

The original color is Corvette bright metallic green. Very few were made that color so it's kind of unique. I don't have a lot of good photos of it right now. Just a few of the interior, engine and outside. The paint sucks on it, but used to look nice. Could probably be brought back with some elbow grease, but I really want to have it painted so I don't really care too much about it. I've done all the work to it myself including the transverse leaf spring conversion in the front. I'd like to put in a rack and pinion but I need to focus on a few other things first. I'm not happy with the way the interior came out, but back then I was building o a limited budget, and now my budget has grown considerably so i want to make right my wrongs from years ago. The problem with cars is that once you take them apart, you need to be committed to the project, and my time is too short for that stuff at the moment. But soon. Soon I will finish it.

Yes, that's my wifes minivan in the background. Totally stock. No, I don't think I have any more photos of it.

Come on...lets see the hair dryer on it and the 5 gallon nos tank in the back:punk

The vette looks good, sorry to hear the story behind it. I kind of have the same thing going on with my father he's got a 97 vette and I have a 95 firebird. I have lots to do to it but the Gixxer comes first. I think the interior looks good and nice job on the front end! It will never loose value so take your time.

Eric,

Too many projects now enough time.

I was a chevy guy in HS and college. 64 Chevelle SS w/ 327 (from my 65 Impala SS) Muncie M-21.

Fortunately in college I did not have a lot of money to spend on it.

I only have time for my 3 bikes now (maybe another).

Jim

Bikes look great Eric... That b/w 86 paint scheme is still my all time fav!!

I had a 76 L82, last year of the StingRay... that I had to sell after my first divorce... really wish I could of kept it, as it was my Pops old car. Life happens...

Got one like your 87. I was wondering how come is says 750 on the British colors on your 7/11?
I got those tail parts from Schwantz34. They are from the Japanese version 86 750 and was more at home on the 7/11. Technically it's still a 750 right? :shifty Darrin thought it would be cool to have the 7/11 in 1100 colors but with the Japanese 750 badging on the tail and after giving it about 5 seconds worth of thought I realized how right he was and swapped everything over. I really like the way that bike turned out - dents and all. I think the imperfections add charachter to it, besides, it runs pretty good. Makes people think it's just an old crashed and beat up 750 - which is exactly what is supposed to look like according to the old hot rod formula...

Oh I read the story now I get it. My buddy has blue and white 1100 that just getting repainted but with a Canadian 750 tank! Thats definately different. Cool bikes does your 7/11 wiggle all over the place? Mine is a tank slapper without a stabilizer. If I doing 100 mph and whoop the throttle it does try to get loose. It seems like all my friends are throwing money into paint jobs on the old style gixxers.

Nah, mine feels solid as a rock. A little heavy actually. I like the way the 750 feels a little better as it's more of a canyon carver with the 750 motor in it for sure, but the power of the 1100 is really something too. I guess that's why I have both. But it doesn't really have any bad manners when you get on the power. Sounds like a suspension problem if you are having problems hooking up and getting tank slappers at such a low speed. It could also be your tires causing the problem, or a combo of the two. I like the idea of a Canadian tank, they do have a nice shape to them, and the blue/white 86 1100 paint scheme is one of my favorites.

We used to ride bikes like that just the tank and tail section. We used the term Road Warrior. My brother 16 no license with me on the back no helmets taking fools out up on Angeles Crest. Back then it was Ducati 888 and FZR 1000, Hurricanes, Gixxers, FZ 600, RZ 350, One bad ass Gama. Fun to ride like that cause you can see everything and not have to worry about the bike overheating or scraping lowers! The simple life- the way it was. Now if I ride a bike like that I might go to jail! The see me driving like that and say yeah he is crasher lets get'em! Probably doesnt have any insurance.

I never had one like this until now. When I went up to MotoGP a few years ago, Marko let me borrow his that was set up like that to ride down to MotoGP from San Jose, and that was the day I got hooked and decided to build one. It's amazing how much it changes the ride. I remember the Ducati 888 - nice bikes.

Yeah I am looking into it the front end, has ohlins and bearing sounding little funky something not right. I dont feel comfrontable throwin the bike around but my friends tell me that I do drive the bike like nutty professor! Once I get the seal fixed take look at the bearings might not of hammered the bearing spacer all the way frame of something. Have the suspension adjusted to my height and weight done right. I have a 750 frame with 1052 motor stage 3 jets. Bike is pretty quick but it needs suspension love.
