Hey guys, been browsing the forum for a few months now anticipating my purchase of a gsxr. Finally got a 2001 750 this morning, 14,900 miles.

First problem - the red light comes on with the oil can next to it, and "chec" on the temp gauge. So i look at the oil window and there's no oil to be seen.

I put two quarts of oil into it and it's up to the F in the window. However, the red light still comes on prior to starting the bike. When I do start the bike, the light turns off (only to turn back on again when I turn the motor off).

Also, what's the average running temperature??

Thanks guys.

just in case you are being serious ................ with the key on and the engine off, all idiot lights should light up. With the key on and the engine running the idiot lights should go off.

When you check the oil level make sure the engine is not running and the bike is not leaning (as in leaning on its side-stand)
