they should rename it Windy Springs... I don't mind the facilities at WSIR though. At least the bathrooms are closer than the ones at Pahrump.

if you think trackdays are addictive, racing is mainlining it... the first time I raced on the big track I did 1:43 best lap time, which is pretty freaking awful. I finished 15th out of 25, so maybe it wasn't that bad. By July/August, I had almost chopped 10 seconds off per lap.

This year TrackDaz is running the New Racer School at some events, so you can get your license that way. Getting your license is pretty easy and something I definitely recommend doing! You can take what you learn from racing at Willow to other tracks and really start tearing around!

I have been talking about doing that in 2009. A friend of mine (Blakester) got his license out there at WSIR. I've been doing trackdays (and want to keep it that way) but I think the race school would help me to be a better rider.

I pretty much have a stock '04 gix 1000 (minor upgrades...brake lines, pads, stator cover, and a few other odds and ends). I've done 7 or 8 trackdays with that bike. Had an '02R6 previously. What would I need to do to my bike to prep it for a race school?

Would it be easier to sell it and prep a 600 since I will prob hit Buttonwillow a few times a year no matter what. I like the 1000 at WSIR but would prefer a 600 for BW.

I prob will not head back out 'till May. I'm gonna do a Buttonwillow trackday in March and f*** WSIR in April!! I did that a couple of years ago and it was so windy that it was miserable out there. I'd hit turn 8 and then turn 1 and almost get blown off the track!:hammer

Were you out there on the 22/23 of Nov with ti2tt?
i was going to go but a buncha bullshit came up so i couldnt make it. yeah the wind out here gets crazy sometimes lol. i wanna go to button willow bad man

prep for NRS is pretty easy. I'd flip through the rule book and safety wire everything like caliper bolts, axle pinch bolts, hose clamps, rad cap, fill cap, oil filter, etc. Race bodywork is good to have if you don't already. Other than that it's pretty much run what ya brung. As long as you can hold a line and do a lap in under the 2:00 (easy) cutoff, you'll have your license :punk

What length is the rear shock (eye to eye)?
not quite sure as I haven't had it off the bike. didn't need to play with the spring rate, so left it as is. set the sag and ran some some laps. felt good, but didnt have too much feel to it. on the other hand, i dont think i was riding fast enough to see maximum performance from the setup. thankfully, that was one of the components that was not damaged from the previous owner's get-off

ok got some stuff going on with the bike

got an ASV brake lever for my Brembo master cylinder. I can now swap between 19x18, 19x19, and 19x20 in a matter of minutes. Sweeeeeet!

also some new bodywork for the bike

that's K7/K8 bodywork on my K6. It needs some extra bits like a new overflow hose and catchcan to make the bodywork fit better. Some of the holes don't line up quite right, but I'll figure out how to make it work.

throwing on a K7 radiator since the one on there is patched with chewing gum and marine putty. yuck. radiators are basically the same except for a few minor details. should be a pretty smooth swap.

bodywork is just mocked up and undrilled right now. I need to swap the radiator and get a windscreen before I go crazy and start drilling stuff.

hey whats up triplestack! WSIR, nov30, me and my gf walked up to u and chatted it up for a bit. Took me a while to find your User name. Hope to see you at the track again and hopefully ride with yah too

Last night I took off the damaged 06 radiator that was on there. Replaced it with a shiny new (or damn close to it) radiator from a K8 1000. SumOfAllParts.net was nice enough to give me some love and sent it with all the bells and whistles. All the bells and whistles went into the spare parts bin since I just needed the core. The K8 1000 radiator is a little wider than the K6's, but all the mounting points line up and I'm using K8 1000 bodywork, so it's pretty much a slam dunk.

I also picked up a 06/07 600/750 clear windscreen and made it fit on the K8 1000 bodywork. I couldn't use a K8 1000 screen because most of them have a cutout for the light at the bottom. Fortunately for me, most Suzuki parts are interchangable.

Picking up a catchcan today and modifying it so that it works for what I'm using it for. Once I get that knocked out, I'm mounting the upper and then drilling holes for the fasteners.

Bodywork should go out to paint by the end of the year hopefully. I'm going to try to hit up the guys who did my R6, but it depends on the turnaround time. Racing starts up again in January, so time is important.
