Hey... I searched and read all i could about installing the helibars. Didnt really find a lot of info on installing them on the 08's. Do you have to re-route any cables, ect..? Any extra tips would be great. They will be here monday!

BTW.. did anyone ever get the 08 service manual online to dl?

You need to make sure your cables have enough slack when set to the position you want.

When you get them where you want move the bars lock to lock and make sure there is no cable binding or pulling.

They are top notch.

Also make sure to locktite all the bolts.

Im taking it that i should use the blue loctite? So how does it feel going from stock bars to the heli's? From what i have read there is a noticeable difference..

I have the helibars but have not installed them on my k8 750 yet. I would like to know from someone who has them on their K8 750 (thats you rraiderr) four things:

1) 2 inches taller and 1 inch back is a lot. Do the stock cables and brake lines have enough room in them for this, or do you need new cables?
2) What about front brake reservoir and fairing clearance once the bars are installed? any issues?
3) How do they look installed? good, not bad, or ridiculous?
4) Lastly, PICS!!! For some strange reason, many people have claimed that helibars are awesome, but no one that has them ever posts some good side and overhead pics of them installed so we can see for ourselves.

First off let me say they are comfortable. They do lift your body up a ways and your back will be straighter.

1) The clutch cable will be fine. As for the throttle cables, you have to remove the cable stay bracket under the dash to have enough slack. The brake line will reach but when riding and you give it some gas you can see the brake line getting streched. I would recommend a long brake line.
2) My brake res. on my 600 cleared the fairing.
3) They dont look to bad. You can tell that they are taller. They look to long. I think it has to do with since they are longer but also taller.

I took the bike for a spin and didnt really like them. It felt like i was riding a new bike. Im sure i could of got used to them and it would of been alot more confortable but i felt it took away from the sporty feel. I also didnt like how it streched the brake line so i ended up sending them back. They seem like a good quality product!

Yea thats what I figured, they wouldn't look so hot. I'm not so sure i'm going to keep mine either.
Oh i forgot to mention that i have the motovation bar ends also... I dunno if they would look to long with the stock bar ends or not.

If you have all the tools to do the job i would take the triple clamp and bars off (its very easy) and just slide the helibars on just to get a feel. :dunno

I would like to find some bars thats just like stock but angled up just a little bit. Not completly straight tho.

me and my friends want to know WHAT IS A HELIBAR!!! thanks :)

They are handlebars that converts your bike into a helicopter.
