Hey guys,

Everything about the bike feels fine except when I get on to the freeway, click it into 4th or a higher gear, and generally if I back off and close the throttle at about 4000-5000rpm and then slowly roll the throttle on the bike seems to lag with no effect and then all of a sudden power kicks back in and jerks forward.

Now, the bike is a GSXR750K8, it has about 4500kms on it, i've taken it to the track and just started learning how to pull first gear power-on wheelies.

Any ideas if this is sounds like a problem or is more likely just a flat spot in power that is more pronounced now that the bike is fully broken-in?? Coz I haven't felt anything like this before... I thought it was a slack chain from doing wheelies, but after tightening it the problem hasn't been fixed.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Do a search and check out the several threads on the herk and jerk. Sounds as if it may be happening to you based on what you posted.

Although I haven't experienced this many others have and so far suzuki hasn't nailed it down and fixed it yet. For some it was the set valve. Others claim a new O2 sensor fixed the problem. Some have had the main wiring harness replaced with mixed reviews. Some bikes have been fixed with a simple adjustment of the tps. In any event it would be in your best interest to bring it to a dealers attention and get the problem on file while the bike is under warranty.
Good luck man

i think what you are describing is the "herk and jerk" issue, all i did to fix mine was remove the SET valve.

also, as was said at first, you are outside the powerband at that point, so it may be a little sluggish. The intake system (amongst other things) is optimized for upper midrange and top end power... 4-5000 you are outside of that range...

Juzz, my 2 cents. You described exactly what my '08 600 was doing and what Suzuki told my shop to do to check for a bad O2 sensor. I knew it was new, not normal, and had nothing to do with my throttle control or RPMs being too low (even though throttle control and high RMPs are good things, of course). The "My new 08 Gixxer 600 losing power" thread is covering that fix.

Good luck & congrats on the wheelies :punk.
