Is there any blue tint to it? Im torn between the 5K and the 6K
once it's warmed up it has a slight blue tint to it...just enough to actually notice. I have 5000K HID's in my Audi and it is pretty much hyper white w/almost no blue...basically a super bright white light w/almost no blue tint. The 5K are very nice as well, but if you want that "touch" of blue then go w/the 6K. One of my friends has 8K and the other has 10K and they are still nice, but too blue for my taste.

Thanks!! I'll try to take pix later, but I bought the lite eyes kit. The Ballast has a red plug that I thought should plug directly into the plug that connects to the stock H11 bulb, bu tit doesn't fit. The funny thing is... I disconected on of my 9005 high beam plugs and the ballasts plugs in to it just fine and the HID will come on when I switch on the Hig Beams.

The Black goes directly to yhr HID bulb and the Red should plug and play directly to the Bikes Low beam plug correct?
Not quite. Basic automotive wiring is quite simple.

Red = Power (From the battery, or another accessory power wire).
Black = Ground (Crimp it onto a bolt thats connected to the frame).

You will have to supply power to the red, then ground out the black...thats to the ballast..then the ballast will normally have water tight connections that then plug directly to the bulb.

So if you wanted too, you could bypass the normal power wire for the low-beam..then hook up a switch...so you can turn your lights on when you want too.

Thanks for the info! I think I am going ot get the DDM kit but from thier site directly. It looks like I will get 2 bulbs and 2 ballasts for almost the same price from sharphid.com. I have to upgrade to 50watt and buy the hid hardness separately

I don't know if they updated their site on sharphid.com, but I paid $110 shipped for the single bulb/ballast setup w/lifetime warranty...just some fyi

Okay Ladies and Gents... I just got my kit. I went with DDM Single Motorcycle 55watt 5000K from Sharphid.com. I also spoke with sharphid.com owner, John, and he is thinking of becoming a forum sponsor and would do group buys (he does have a showroom in Alameda, California).

It wasn't all easy putting it in. When I went to put in my system for a system test, it didn't turn on or ignite. I reinstalled the original OEM halogen and that worked. I was great, I was all excited and crap! my kit didn't work! I quickly phoned in sharphid.com and said they said that I had to reverse the polarity on the wiring harness that connects to the powersource on the OEM harness (the end that sticks into the stock OEM Halogen bulb).

The two pictures below shows the wiring harness that came with the DDM kit, and the red circle denotes the small tabs that can be moved to the outside with a small screwdriver to pull the prongs out in order to 'reverse' the polarity.

The images below show where I mounted the ballast and how the angle at which I mounted the ballast. I used Mashimaro's placement from the above threads, but I tucked all the wiring behind the instrument panel. I also angled the ballast so that NO part of the ballast will hit the steering coloum.

This is for those of you that are interested... Here is a picture of the 5000K temperature. It is PURE white. Compare it to the parking light. The parking light is the same color and intensity as the stock OEM Halogen. Note that there isn't any blue in it. However, when it does start up... there is a bit of blue in the bulb color.

All in all... because of Mashimaro's ballast placement.... the install (and done correctly).... took about 35-40 minutes.

I'll post up Pics of it at night... Right now in San Francisco, it's been really foggy at night so I can't get a true distance for how far the beam will go.... as soon as it clears up however, I will take a picture...

It is EXTREMELY bright and it is a vast improvement over the stock OEM halogen bulbs. HID 55watt bulbs are easily 4 times lumen and light capacity from that of the halogen bulbs.

Glad to see you went w/the DDM kit as they are high quality. I think I posted up that I have the same kit, but in 6000K (I have the 5000K kit on my 08 Audi A4). I now have a 5 LED pure white city light and 5800K "xenon" HI beam bulbs. The whole setup looks just plain sick and i'm going to post up pics soon.

What exact 5 led light did you get for the parking light and which xenon bulbs did you get (manufacturer or part numbers)? Thanks.

Awesome thread. conveinced me to order a kit! i hear the 55w 6000k barely has any blue so i ordered the 55w 7000k kit from sharphid.com (I just wanted a little more blue).

Ill post pics once I get it all installed.

Thanks again guys, I wouldnt have done this kit without seeing and reading all the advice that you all provide :cheers

I bought everything from Ebay and the brand of the LED lights are (type 194) GP Thunder (part # 194-5F) The xenon 5800K "HID like" bulbs are brand Brightly Yours and they are called XD5...65w super white and made w/quartz glass. I will take pics of what everything looks like tonight after the UFC fights and post them up later or tomorrow. Glad to see everyone is going w/the DDM kits from Apexcone/sharphid.com!!

the factory wiring harness should be ok, but for how long is the question. John at sharphid.com told me I shouldn't have a problem. If my harness starts to melt then I'll just solder in a new one and then go back to either the 35w HID bulb or a HID like xenon bulb.

08seven50 and kevinmlee - do either of you have any problems with the factory wiring harness getting too hot with the 55W DDM kit? Did you get the battery harness kit as well? Thanks.
Yeah... So far so good... I haven't had any problems with melting... or though it seems... I will check back in a week or so... If it hasn't melted by then... I'm pretty sure it's good to go for a much longer time... Otherwise, like 08seven50 had said... I'll solder on thicker wiring... isn't a problem, the connectors will resist the heat it's the wiring that will need to be done... if it happens
