whats up ppl. ive been waiting forever to get a bike and its finally about to happen. im getting a 2000 gixxer 750 with a 1000cc motor. are there any differences between the 750 and 1000 besides the engine.

Is this your first motorcycle?

Yea, I wouldn't recommend a 1000 as a first bike either. I started on dirt bikes, then went to 600's for the street bikes, and upgraded to 1000 after I was confident of my skills. The 1000 is a big, heavy, powerful bike to learn on...imho. Now though, I MUCH prefer the size and power of the 1000+ bikes.

Good luck with the bike and your riding. Two words.....FULL GEAR:thumbup

first of all, i appreciate all the input. basically its the right price at the right time and it happens to be a 1000cc. im only paying 700 for the bike. i figure i can go 40 mph on a 1000cc just like i can on a 600. im not gonna be an idiot rider. and the size and weight shouldnt matter cuz its on a 750 frame right?

should i make i new thread bout this in a different section or just keep it here

So You Dont Think Its Gonna Be Too Bad As Long As I Handle Myself Ok? Cuz I Dont Want Something Thats Impossible To Learn On
I'm sorry I forget that sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet. Their is no reason on earth why you should be riding a 1000 as a first bike. I don't care how smart and respectful you are, that bike is going to man handle you. Do yourself a favor who ever told you that a 1000 or even a 750 is a good choice of a first bike, stop being their friend cause they are going to get you killed. I recommend an sv650 for your first bike but certainly nothing bigger then a 6. ( i know thats actually deceptive because I say an sv650 or nothing bigger then a 600, but the 600 is actually lighter faster and more nimble then the 650 because one is a vtwin and the other is an inline 4 cylinder.) If you haven't done any research then you need to start and if you haven't bought this bike yet DON'T!!! If you have put it somewhere or sell it because you need to learn to ride first.

Im Still Not Seeing What The Big Deal Is. Sure Its A Little Bigger And A Lot Faster Than A 6. I Know How To Ride, Ive Been On Dirtbikes, Quads, Scooters Etc Since I Was Old Enough To Know The Difference Between Gas And Brake

Well I see you have it all figured out so then why are you asking our opinions. And just because you can ride a dirtbike doesn't mean you can ride a streetbike. But seriously I'll let others chime in now maybe they have the answer your looking for

I Dont Have It All Figured Out. All Ive Got So Far Is That It Will Manhandle Me But How? I Havnt Got Ny Specifics Yet. I Would Gladly Take A Smaller Bike By The Way But There Aint Too Many For 700 Bucks.

700 dollars, I would be leary as hell about that.

Post pics because I want to see what a 700 dollar bike looks like.

Not to mention I agree totally with Daimian.
Werd...Not only a $700 bike, but also a 750 modified to a 1000, but that may just be me.:dunno
Also, I am not trying to be rude or anything, but as Daimian put it, that bike will manhandle YOU, as opposed to you handling the bike. It is just in everyone's best interest to start on a 600. I am glad I did.

Damn good price. Be safe, and wear all the gear possible. and I mean like 10 race suits, so you don't get hurt to bad. If you fall. Def. not the greatest bike to learn on though. Infact it's one of the worst IMO. but at least it's an older model so it's not as bruital as a new one would be, but still it's very dangerous. Be safe.
