My motorcycle's F1 flashing light and red light issue: What does it mean?

While riding last week. A red light came on (stayed on for awhile) and my gauge was flashing F1. What does this mean?

I was so getting so paranoid when that light came on.But on the way back home... the light went off and it didn't flash F1 anymore. I will check the oil level. See whats up with my bike.

OP you might want to post this in the right bike year section. On my 2003 the only Red light I have is to warn me I need gas. :cheers

I am in the right bike year dude. No I know its not the gas because when I need gas it glows like a yellow color with like a gas emblem.

LOL this section is for 2000 to 2003 . Your bike is a 2006 . This is the section I was referring to ( 06/07 GSX-R600/750 (99 Viewing) ) . Not that you can't post in here . I was just thinking they may be a little more helpful more bike specific . :cheers

Oh well... it said "and beyond". I didn't know. I been riding my bike the red light has not came back on so I don't what else to do.

not much you can do. even if you get a light on you have to keep it running to read it. if it becomes more of an issue and happens everytime you ride then you can prepare to read it by taking the tools with you. just do a quick check on fluids and things to make sure those are fine then just wait for a code. not many codes completely kill the bike so you should be ok to continue to ride it.

The red light that's coming on is similar the the check engine light / warning that will come on in your car. How does the bike seem to be running?

It's possible to put the bike into dealer mode and you'll receive a "code" on the instrament cluster that will narrow the problem down for you. All the FI codes and for help getting the bike into dealer mode can be found on this forum. Good Luck ~ Don

I noticed something riding yesterday and a couple weeks ago. I take this hard left corner really fast by my buddies house in first gear then switch to 2nd right after the corner and twice now I have missed freakin second gear and gone to neutral. Well both times the F1 light came on. And I shut it off restart and it's fine runs great - fluid levels are where they should be. Did you do the same thing? Am I tripping some sensor or am I a retard for missing 2nd? hahaha Thanks guys

Its running fine. I am not sure what happened. After we turned the bike off and let it rest for a bit it was fine. So you guys think it would be best to take it to a shop?
