I see the sticky for what the codes mean but how do I get the code?

I've only owned the bike a couple weeks and the light has been on the whole time

Whats the most common reasons's it goes on? I have a slip on, on the bike...is that a reason?

Thanks

look in the left side of the tail section.....there's a white connector with a black rubber cap on it.....two wires coming out of it, but the connector's not connected to anything. it might be buried pretty far in there....i had to remove my tail section to see it.

pull off the cap, bridge the two contacts inside together with a piece of wire, and after like 2 seconds, you'll see the error code on the dash....'cxx' where xx is the error code.

make sure the ignition's on and the fi error light is lit while you're doing this...if you turn off the ignition, it'll reset.

i have a gsxr 1000 k2 when i bought the bike the f1 light came on when started, took bike back and they said once you deactivate the alarm you have to wait 10 seconds before starting bike that worked. but a year on and the f1 light now comes on sometimes and sometimes not ,no code comes up could it be a prob with the alarm?

WTF are they smoking? There is no alarm on the bike from the factory and even if it's aftermarket is surely is not hooked to the ECU of the bike to kick on the FI light. Your dealer is an idiot.
Unless you put an alarm on the bike you do not have one. The FI light kicking on is either low oil pressure or the FI issue if the temp alternated with "FI" on the dash. Then you need dealer mode to get the code and there will always be SOME code. 00 if nothing else but given that it's an 02 1000 its likely a C-46 (most common for that bike) it the SET actuator taking a dump......search for "Bugmans GSXR" on google and look at his site.....there is a lot of help on there.

Its FI (Fuel Injection) not F1 (Common mistake). Like Gixxereater said, its usually the SET valve in the exhaust that causes the FI light to come on if you have a stock exhaust. If you have a full system on, then there is no more SET valve and the servo motor was either removed or just disconnected, this will also cause the FI light to come on. Either way, it does nothing negative to the bike. Me personally it just bugged the crap out of me and I pulled the seat and pulled the wire that goes to the sensor and taped it up. No more FI light for THAT problem (code). Like he said Bugman's web site has tons of information and pretty picrures that walk you through this procedure.. G/L

i was told that the FI means "Fault Indication" not "Fuel Injection" If you're riding and the light comes on, doesn't mean there's a problem with the fuel injection. When mine came on, it was becuz it was overheating.
