first bike 1999 R1 , rode it around roundabouts in the wet and it scared the shit out of me . if u want the best go for the 08 gsxr 600 if u dont want the horsepower , especailly in the wet its got the three-way power switch . its good to have an option of a stable bike or a mad one .

Im sorry but wtf is going on here? Im reading through these and like every 6 or 7 posts somebody says they had a xxxx "1000"! How the hell can you get a 1000 as your first bike. I thought I was pushing it getting a 600 for my first. Ive been riding for a year now and the thing still scares me. I dont see how ppl can handle a 1000 properly as a first bike.

Sorry a little :eek:fftopic

My first bike was a Bandit 1200. Looking back, I'm amazed how many times I escaped death on that thing. I originally wanted the 600 bandit or sv650, but I got impatient, wanted a bike asap. I have to say I am glad that I learned on that Bandit and not a real sportbike, even though it was of larger displacement. The bandit was an awesome bike that still lives after so much abuse. I still take it out for some canyon runs, even though it bucks through the corners like a wild horse! :burnout

1988 gsxr 750...back then there was no gsxr 600....
That was the first one I bought.
Rode all kinds of dirtbikes growing up.
First streetbike I ever rode was a GS750ES i think it was called, before Suzuki even made the GSXR, then a FZ600. I never liked skinny tire bikes..then a FJ 1200...Not a Yamaha fan....
But that FJ1200 guys, that thing had no power band, it was ALL power band lol.
Honda's, ive probably ridden most models of CBR 600's, maybe not the latest two. Nice bikes just not my thing. I love the balls of the 750. Personally id love to ride a 1000 for a week or 2. But not sure if Id buy one. THe 750 has just about the right amount of power. Can get you into as much trouble as you want, hands-down.

Never been a Kawasaki fan, Ive never ridden the mean green either tho. SO I wont judge them.

My first bonk! 1996 CBR900RR. Loved it. I'm actually looking for another one just like it. I would like a project bike to restore. IMO it wasnt too difficult to learn on. Power on these older carburated hondas are probably comparable to newer 600 nowadays. And it was very light and flickable. I would recommend for someone on a budget. I think i picked mine up in MINT condition for about $3,500.
