On HOT dsys....... watcha\' wearing?

Bumb question but....
I have a lightweight Joe Rocket mesh riding jacket and i'm sweating my ass off. It's about 98' and muggy in illinois. I got my helmet, mesh jacket, and jeans on. Am i nuts

I try to suit up all the time in my regular old first gear jacket with vents but its probably hotter than your jor rocket jacket. I just sweat it out cuz ive seen 2 many nasty grinded flesh pics.... Best advice... drive fast with all vents open to freeze the sweat from the stop lights

I'm wearing my Alpine Stars leather jacket and suzuki textile pants. The pants are hotter than the jacket but overall its better than roadrash if I go down. Its about 105 and humid in SoCal today and im not really looking forward to the ride home.

In hindsight, I wish I'd bought FirstGear jacket and pants. I keep reminding myself that if it's too hot to wear the gear, it's too hot to ride.

I wear my Joe Rocket phoenix jacket, with jeans, gloves and the helmet OF COURSE! My friend stopped wearing his jacket a while ago, and Ive been REALLY tempted, But as long as your moving, and you have a mesh jacket, You can learn to deal with it,

If your one of the guys who thinks "ahh...nothing will happen today" then you may be the next one with a cheese grater body, and smashed elbows, shoulders, spine, etc..
Doesnt mean it wont happen if you do have gear on, but it will help ALOT!

Everyone knows the risks, but after time, the fear seems to go away.

Amethi... I don't own a protective pair of riding pants. I have always worn jeans. I was just wondering because there are alot of people in IL who will wear just shorts and a t-shirt. Not even a helmet. Then theres the people who wear the jacket and the riding pants and helmet. I went out yesterday in shorts, t shirt, and a helmet. I didn't feel right!

those people are all fuck ups. never ride without your gear, cause the one time you do you'll crash and die when you could have just ended up with a "booboo"
here is what I wear EVERYTIME I go out. (except when I go a block or 2 to the gf's then I wear jeans instead of the pants..

full face helmet
military boots
first gear diablo jacket (vents open liner out)
alpinestars s-mx air carbon gloves
first gear speed pants zipped to my jacket

I just sweat it up when it's hot. I figure it's alot easier to cool off then heal from road rash

I always wear a helmet, gloves and jeans. I have a joe rocket jacket I wear when I'm planning on hitting the back roads or going riding with a group. But if I"m just going tooling around town sometimes I'll skip the jacket.

I switched yesterday from my Suzuki leather jacket to the Leather/Tex jacket with the vents WIDE open. Helmet isn't an option, so it stays on. Jeans may not protect me long, but it beats shorts! This is the bare minimum gear that I wear during the hot dayz.

Man do I love Illinois humidity!

Oh yeah.......... I forgot to mention that I wear flip-flops when I ride to keep my tootsies cool!

No matter what the temp, my gear never changes:

HJC AC-11 Yikes
Joe Rocket Speedway leather jacket
Joe Rocket Speedmaster gloves
Alpinestar Mk-3 boots
Jeans

Need to get a good pair of riding pants.

I thought about getting a second cooler jacket...but nothing will protect you as good as leather. That's not to say there aren't good textile/mesh jackets available...but no matter how good they are they will not protect you as good as leather.

My modo is "I'd rather sweat than bleed."

Take a T-shirt - soak it in cool water, toss it on under your leathers and let the evaporative cooling do it's work. Works for about 45 min or so. Less in a mesh jacket.

Joe Rocket makes a "Sahara" vest that you do the same thing with, soak it and wear it under your protective gear.

I'm always in jeans,full helmet,joe rocket gloves,suzuki GSXR leater jacket and boots.My friends laugh and it gets hot,but who knows when you might have something happen.I won't be the one wearing shorts and a t-shirt when it does.

I wear full leather gear always. I came off a small bike about 20 years ago doing about 55mph wearing a leather jacket but jeans and I had bad gravel rash for weeks & weeks after. Without being too gruesome my leg was oozing puss for ages and took weeks before it would start to heal. Wear tough bike leather trousers or armoured textile bike trousers not jeans. Jeans are tough but don't stand to rubbing along tarmac for a 100 yards, they wear straight through. Once the jeans are through it's you skin that is wearing away!

I wear full leathers, pants and jacket, boots, gloves and full face helmet. I wore a tshirt a couple of times, however, and I was fortunate, the day I did wear my gear, I had an accident, and it saved my ass. I will never not wear my gear again. Oh, and this was just a short little ride, 35mph trip 6 blocks away, 4.5 blocks away I hit the ground.

my coat is an alpinestars smx-airflo leather.
I tell ya, the leather makes you hot when your in traffic sitting at a light, but theres no way i'd wear a textile.
When i'm on the highway, you feel really cool with it.

Its an expensive coat, but if you look you can get one for about $500 bones, and its worth it.

Rule 1: safety first, comfort second.....

Gear is everything WHEN YOU GO DOWN!!!!
Those mesh jacket are shit!!! I’ve seen them melt right into a persons arm once....
I bought one then sold it after wearing a few times - felt naked in it - they're said to be good for one down, at low speeds.....
if you wear one make sure it's tight b/c it will ride up you, and rash your side.... but most jackets will do that regardless....

Realize that in the hotter days, cars, trucks, suv's, etc, are running their air-conditioning,
Therefore, at ALL stops there's a puddle of water AND b/c their running the AC, their vehicles are running hotter,
which can cause coolant to leek out the over flow - VARY BAD - coolant is the slickest shit ever....

because of this you see a lot of no speed drops usually at the stop light when you grab your front brake and slide b/c of the shit on the ground....
So' a GOOD pair of gloves is the FRIST thing you’re going want to have regardless of how hot it is…..... Think about it…..

Anyway to keep cool in all this heat, go buy some Under Armor. Shirt and Pant… this shit works…
and your leathers will slid right off when your done riding…

Street gear:
Arai rx 4, Good set of gloves, Under armor shirt Perforated leather jacket, and no lace - riding boots:
Track: Under Armor shirt and pant perforated Full Suit….

Oh ya, add some baby powder too....
