Okay, I've search all through these threads and read all about O2 sensor replacement but it is still not clear if you should or should not plug the bung.
I installed a Full Titanium Arata sys on my k7. I misplaced the O2 plug. Should I put a bolt in the bung or look for a replacement sensor? Advantages and disadvantages :scratch

If you use a pciii then you dont need an 02 sensor . If your not then you need one . If your talking about the hole (bung) in the exhaust then unless you dont mind exhaust leaking out it should be plugged but i dont think a bolt is the same thread as the o2 sensor . Is the 02 sensor still in your old exhaust ?

I have a PClll. The o2 sensor is still in the old cat but it is much smaller than the bung on my Arata :dunno I think the last time this happened with my Micron exhaust, I stopped by a Precision Tune and picked up a junk o2 sensor for free.

No, of course not. The 02 sensor is the primary lambda (feedback) system in EFI. That's what makes PC kinda suck, in my view, as it locks the system into essentially one map that it uses all the time. You might as well have carbs on the bike.

Did they send an adapter ? Thats weird that the hole is too big for a bike specific exhaust . Sounds like the exhaust maker should get their shit together . I would do the junk yard deal and plug it , and call the company and say the hole is too big for the stock o2 sensor . Maybe they dont know .

I went to Autozone and bought a generic o2 sensor that fit the hole. Thanks for the replies. Now its time to see those dyno numbers .........

@ken7-1000 : the stock o2 sensor is a narrow band sensor which can only tune for 14.7:1 which is correct stoichiometric coefficient for best emissions with a cat , not best power, not best fuel efficiency so this makes it... obsolete unless you are extraordinarily eco-friendly, in which case you would not have bought a 1000 cc sportbike. Also the stock o2 sensor is used for very little amounts of time when you cruise on the highway at constant rpm. So the stock ecu is not closed loop. It only has one map which does not get modified to compensate for eventual mods like a full sistem or an air filter or whatever.

Yep, I tried disconnecting it and looping the w/b and o/w wires together and surprise! the bike ran better and got better mileage. So much for Suzi's closed loop tuning; crude as the middle ages, by today's standards. So, in case anyone cares and is still reading this ancient thread, I was officially wrong about the need for an 02 sensor on this bike. I hope all are happy and satisfied now, I certainly am...

Can you show pictures on how you looped it? I wanna do this, just don't want to mess it up.
