For anyone who has ever sold a motorcycle.....

How long did it take before someone bought your bike?

Also is it just me or does it seem like it takes lots of time to sell a used bike?

Thanks.

....it's very easy. It all depends on how bad you want to get rid of it.

I posted mine on Craigslist on a Thursday & it was sold by that weekend. KBB was $5200 & I was asking $4500. That's the way to do it if you want to sell it fast. Sure I could have possibly made another $500 or so had I waited two months, but f**k it. I got rid of it super quick, still made money, & made some guy's wife really happy.

put some chrome on it first, like heel guards, sliders, maybe a chain gaurd.
remember, there are much more squids looking for a bike than experienced riders out there.

I sold my ninja 250 on craigs list in less than a week, for the same 2k I paid for it. After I had put 3k miles on it and it was the middle of the season. My fzr 600 took about a week also I sold it for 1500, I had paid 1100 for it, that was also mid season. My 2002 R1 was sold 45 mins after posting it. Lol, I did'nt even know the post had been published and a guy called me and asked could he come out and see it. I paid 4500 for it with 7k miles on it. I put about 2k miles on it right before the winter and then put iit on craigs for $5500 ( a lot of people in my area are still trying to sell 02-03 bikes for like 7k). The guy came and saw it the same night, and brought me back a check that same week for 5200. If you price the bike reasonably you should have no problem selling it. If you price it above kbb value and try to get everything out of it that you have put into ,(exhaust, windscreen ,brake lines, etc.) you will wait awhile. Keep in mind that it's used. If I buy a bike and put some good miles on it and have a good time with it, I don't really consider it losing anything when I sell it.

put mine up a while back... decided to keep it cus i got swamped with cheque scams...
i was asking a grande and people were saying ill send you a cheque for 4 grande to sort shipping etc? beware of them ... they hand you a stolen cheque take your bike and then report it to the bank who then withdraw the cash and leave you bikeless and 4 grande in debt .... twats

I sold my friend's bike for him in about two weeks of being listed on craigslist. It was a 1991 GSX-R1100 with a book value of $1800 that I listed for $3000 and sold for $2800. I really don't think the book value was a good indicator of the market value, so just stick to your price and wait for the right buyer.
