Just want to say HI all. New member here so here's my story.

I haven't ridden in bout 4 years. Lit Bro got into an accident (wasn't his fault) and my family freaked out. So that delayed my plans. But things have calmed down abit, well you know the bug never leaves you. I've been a long time Honda rider mostly dirt bikes. Both my son and I have honda dirt bikes, he's 10 and riding for 3 years now.

Bought my 1st Gixxer 2 weeks ago and what can I say I love it. 1998 GSXR600, 12,250 miles, owned by a girl so she babied it, pd 2800 (good price?). Some minor scrapes but mechanically very sound. I put over 500 miles on it the 1st 3 days and I can't get enuff. I commute about 140 miles a day total, so she will get alot of miles. Gas is so expensive here in the east coast.

So here's my question, I need to change the chain and front brakes. Anyone have a good recommendation on a chain. Since i will be riding alot I want a good durable one. Not looking to change the gearing at all, for now at least. 2nd what's a good brake brand.

Thanks for looking and I will try to post pix soon.

Cheers:D

and congrats twice, for getting back on two wheels, and the SRAD. :cool :cool

Can't go wrong with D.I.D. (what I prefer) or RK chain... and go for x-ring over plain o-ring.

Thanks all,

Sent Cory a message hopefully he can hook me up!!!

Also, I've looked all over, ebay, CL, etc and I can't seem to find a rear seat cowl, other than from the stealer. They want $210 for it, seems like a rip-off, Any suggestions.

Thanks again.

Does seem like a rip off, since OEM price for my old (and rare) cowl was only about $100 from a dealer in Cali. Was just lucky he had one hangin' on his wall in the factory colour I needed. :banana

If you don't want to pay the stealership, you'll need patience, and find it on ebay eventually. Somebody on gdc may hook ya up somehow; it was an oil cooler member here that found mine for me, back when I'd first joined. :cool

Great to have ya as a member!

RK makes great chains.

Best brakes? Brembo.:D But very expensive.
Galfer braided brake lines and rotors make for a great set up. Brembo master cylinder to go along with it is fairly inexpensive, too.

The brake lines in themselves make a huge difference. I would start there. Good brands are Galfer, Goodridge, Russell.
