Just a side note: the 750 intake (mod) is .330 lift and around 240 duration @.04....
Very close to the web exhaust cam...
Yup, you would be correct if you meant that my measurements of the WEB EX are close to
the 750IN, but they are not close to the specs published by WEB, the WEB IN on the other
hand measured quite close to their published specs.
Maybe you bought or they sent you the wrong ones..Web offers two different sets...The one you wanted is 248in/236 exhaust..then other one they offer is 248in/226exhaust... Maybe you got this set be mistake?

You know I thought about that and measurement wise, durration and lift, the EX cam is a 577 grind.
The only thing is it has 'WEB 7 03 566' stamped on the side of it, so not only is it the wrong
one but it is miss stamped as well (grrr..@#&$(#%&&%#$#):

I received the shims from RON after nagging them, apparently the order had fallen into a virtual crack for a few weeks.
When I bolted it all up I got all the shims within the tolerances in the first attempt, but they were all on the tight side,
IN.125mm EX.23mm. It took me two more tries to get them in the upper half of the range. Now I have more
shims than the local dealer...Speaking of dealers the Suzuki/Honda guys were happy to swap out shims with me,
the Yamaha/Kawasaki guys charged 6.99+tax for their used shims no trades.
After a panic attack brought on by my incorrect torqueing sequence of the cam journal holder bolts it's up and running now.

I set my timing to 104/109, reasoning being to ride it around for a while, get a feel for it, dyno it to see the max. hp,
and if I couldn't stand the torque loss down low I would go back in there and set it to a bottom end friendly 105/105 and
be done with it.

I ended up with 104/108.5:

IN:
===
Open: 20 BTDC
Close: 132 BTDC or 48 ABDC
48+180+20 = 248 degrees of duration.
248/2 - 20 = 104 lobe centre.

OEM stock numbers were:
Open: 19 BTDC
Close: 133 BTDC or 47 ABDC
47+180+19 = 246 degrees of duration.
246/2 - 19 = 104 lobe centre.

EX:
===
Open: 134.5 ATDC or 45.5 BBDC
Close: 8.5 ATDC
45.5+180+8.5 = 234 degrees of duration.
234/2 - 8.5 = 108.5 lobe centre.

OEM stock numbers were:
Open: 151 ATDC or 29 BBDC
Close: 11 ATDC
29+180+11 = 220 degrees of duration
220/2 - 11 = 99 lobe centre.

Overlap:
Stock = 19+11= 30 degrees of overlap
WEB = 20+8.5= 28.5 degrees of overlap, correct??
Humm, a bit less maybe I should change my timing to something like 104/105.5 which should give 31 degrees of
overlap. Any ideas of this is crucial or not?

I have found that 29 degrees of overlap gave me the best top end power(with stock pipe) but it put the peek very clos to redline...I would back your exhaust 2 more degrees so that you had 30 degrees of overlap.. make it close around 10 ATC and open @ 43 BDC .. You will have more peek torque and move your peek hp back from redline...I'm just afrade that you might run out of RPMs if you leave them were you have them now..

I bolted it all up, changed the oil, and started it up. Kept it >2000rpm for 15mins. as per WEBs break-in
instructions. After about 5 mins I revved it a bit and there was a distinct cam chain noise/clunk,
I think it (or hope it) was the cam chain tensioner tightening up from the oil pressure.
The exhaust note has changed, and it may be a bit louder now or that maybe the result of the missing fairings.
Seems to rev easier now, in a free-er sort of way, less engine noise when revving it up high.

Took it for a ride to get rid of the stale gas in the tank.
Didn't get very far though as my freezing fingers brought me back home pronto.
Got in a few trips to the redline, and I like it.
I did notice it has more power though, difficult to keep the front down in 2nd above 7000rpm, and it seems to build
the revs faster. Maybe it's all due to the denser air....
Bellow 4000 rpm it has lost power, can't so much be felt as heard. Second gear roll on from 2000rpm you can
hear it bog down clears up just before 5000rpm. This time I REALLY do need to have a custom map made...

Waiting for warmer weather....

Double it!
13hp + 5ft_lbs!

Not bad.
I thought the front was a bit light.
No changes since the last dyno run, put in Chevron 87 and went by the same dyno.
No fuel changes what so ever.
Stock headers + Akra bolt on.
I think it is a bit lean.
The 104/109 timing didn't seem to push it too high, in fact I can't tell the difference??

I have attached the run files.

The stock headers is why it didn't push it to high.I thought you had a full pipe..A full pipe would move you peek HP about 1000 rpms higher. You setting pritty good right where your at. Your peek is @11500 rpms and kinda holds there till redline..I wouldn't change a thing!
I'm still can see how you gained that much for just cams and a head gasket..But hey you did and I would be very happy.

I was impressed as well, not bad for something you can do in your own garage.
I want to thank you and all the others that helped me with the cam and degreeing questions.
THANKS.

I didn't change the head gasket, it is the original one, so I guess it has the stock compression.
The only changes since the 150hp dyno run are the WEB cams and setting the
EX lobe center to 109 (stock one was at 99) as per your suggestions, and the new engine oil
that's it.
I will leave the timing as it is.

The dyno operator asked what was new and I told him "Cams" he must have thought 'Yosh Cams',
and that's what he typed in, but they are definitely the WEB cams in there.

Thanks again guys.

I'm about 2 weeks out from ordering my Web Cams. The best deal i've found so far is in GSXRzone.com. I'll save about 45.00 vs. ordering from WEB directly. Anyways, the thread you sent me about your whole CAM install was a real good read, however the only picture that I could view was the Dyno chart. Do you have a web site with all of this on it? If not, how about all the pictures? I'm still kinda bouncing back and fourth on my degree settings. I want the absolute most Mid and Top end power that I can get with these cams without hurting the engine in any way. I read the article on dragbike.com and they dropped them in with the stock 105/105 settings. The gains that they posted was awesome, but does not help me because I am just installing the Cams and not thier exact mods. Do you remember if WEB made any claims on the HP #'s for these cams with just a full exhaust, PC III USB and a BMC Race filter? Do you think your 13 HP gain is typical of what to expect out of these cams? I'd hate to buy them only to find out that I could have gotten the Yosh and got the same performance for less money. I also contacted WEB directly and spoke with a rep and asked about the cam coating problem. They were amazed that someone had said something like that. They said that they use Cam stocks bought directly from Suzuki and the coating that flakes off is suppose to come off right after the install, some sort of coating used for shipping, but it was not harmfull to the engine. anyways, in about a month to a month and 1/2 I should have them here and in the bike. I'll be making a trip to the dyno then and have it dialed in and let you know what I ended up with.

eh?

that was a PM that I sent to STAM and waiting on a response from him in reference to it....wonder what happened..lol...

Anyways, since its here...I have pretty much the same type of mods on my bike now....Full system (HMF High mount), PC III USB (No R for the 03-04's dang it), BMC Race Filter (They used stock) and a JSD. Only thing is they used nutech fuel. Anyways they got 21.2 HP gain. I got 148 HP with the mods listed when the bike had 1200 miles on it. I know its running better now that its broke in, but not sure of the final #'s. Need to get it back to the Dyno....

Anyone else ever put a set of WEB's in their bike? If so, what kind of gains did you get?
