Hey guys I am curious about the VR2 I am wondering if anyone out there has one of these? I have a 1991 GSXR 750 and the speedometer needle is broken off. From what I see around here and other sites it's a pretty common occurance on the older Gixxers. So I was looking at replacing it but a new stock one cost about $265 and then you have to spend the money to have it installed. So I was online looking around and came across the Veypor VR2. The Veypor VR2 is about $300 but it seems really easy to install yourself. Plus it has a ton more features. I'm just curious as to if anyone has one on an gixxer especially an older one and how you like it?

Thanks guys for the responses. Again any other info I would appreciate. I am glad to hear the feed back. I don't plan on using it to replace a real dyno but I do like some of the features like 0-60 mph 1/4 mile times and just the fact that you can track different things. I am getting my bike back from the shop in a week or so with a dyno from the shop so I would have a good baseline. My old school doesn't have a gas gauge either so it would be a nice added feature as well. Not that didn't get by without it before. Anyone had any major problems with it? Thanks again.

yes sir you guys are so in the dark get with the ages old timers:sleep lol

really ive had it for about 6 months now and i am so glad i splurged!:biggrin

i love this thing and those readouts arent always the same but they are real fucking close :eek

and if your smart enough to figure out how to do it (another time another story) you can set up that fuel gauge with real accuracy (the low fuel warning comes on then i have to switch to reserve its that accurate):cool

ummm oh yeah real world horsepower and dyno horsepower are always gonna be different :rolleyes

and definetely get the vr2 i have the vr1 and i find myself always wishing i had the vr2 for only 40 bux more:hammer (evilbay price) plus, who doesnt want to know their drag coefficient???:wacko

Hey thanks for the advice! I went ahead and ordered mine today! I was planning on going with the VR2 and I agree with you. Who wouldn't want to know the coefficent of drag along with the increased data logging! I read some people complain that the HP and TQ numbers were way off but I think they don't understand what you said about real life numbers and ones on a dyno in a shop! You have to simulate the same conditions to get similar numbers and is being off 2-3 Hp between runs really that far off? I don't think so! I also got an extra wiring harness for my car because I do Solo Racing and think it will be great to be able to record a whole days worth of runs and be able to plot them all out and see where I do better and worse!
I have a feeling I am going to love this thing. I know there are displays out there a bit cheaper but if I am going to go I go with the best!
Nitrosportman I might send ya an email about a few questions if any come up if that is ok with you! I'm hoping it will be here mid week.
AH NOTHING LIKE TOYS FOR BOYS.

and good luck your gonna love it man i so wish i would've gotten the vr2 damn it damn it damn it

anywayz also the numbers will be off once you download to the comp a little because ... its kinda like a display on the back of a digicam it doesnt show the pic in detail till you get it on your comp and then you can see it in full detail if that makes sense hit me up with any questions i would definetely suggest using the yellow wire on the harness to the existing tach gauge signal its just too easy not to

I know this is off topic but I looked around and could not find where to change my title. You know the one that says squid or Rookie or back marker.
:lol:lolpost in the squid farm forum I bet you'll learn how in there.:cheers

For anyone interested I plan on posting some info about how things go as I install this thing and how well I like it. I probably won't get around to installing on my bike for a week or two cause it's in the shop but I will be installing it this weekend on my car.

That is your post rating . Basically it changes with the number of posts you have. I forget the number marks, but every so many posts it changes to next level. Unless you really bug one of the Mods,..just keep buggin the hell out of 'em,.. then He will change it for you.......:lol
Until then you are a SQUID !!!!
Good Luck!!:biggrin

dont bitch to much otherwise you will be rookie as long as you live

here are some aftermath shots i know its rusty where i cut but the whole bike is coming apart this winter for a teardown new paint, and powder coating granted i can find someone locally to pc it

and hows this for a hp curve lol i messed up a little and wheelied trying to get on it all the way

Thanks for the pics! I think these are the best examples of pics about how it is hooked up that I have seen. Everyone just shows you pretty pics of the display! I am so excited to get going on this! This weekend is suppose to be great weather so I know I am going to get it hooked up to my car and give it a try! Where is your magnet attached to? Did you just put it on the outter part of the rim? If so have you had any balance problems with your wheels because of it? It's hard to see in your picture but what kind of real life horsepower figures are you putting out? I read my bike is about 515 wet.. Plus my 175 lbs. so I am guessing 590lbs - 600lbs with my gear on. How did you come up with your number? Did you weigh your bike?

My bike is in the shop getting bored over by 1mm I was hoping for 2-3 mm but they couldn't find any kits out there for that bore. So I will be 771:) Plus the stage 3 jet kit and Yosh exhaust. Plus he is going to up the compression a bit from 10.8 to 12. I was making about 105hp to the wheel on the dyno before. I'm hoping for 120-125hp @the wheel! Anyone know if that is reseaonable number? The guy at the shop seemed to think so.
